attack on titan Episode 86 sees the alliance doing their best to defeat the Yeagerists and stop the Rumbling. This means killing his former comrades and even giving up Marley and Liberio. It also leads to two characters sacrificing their lives for the cause: Theo Magath (Jiro Saito/Neil Kaplan) and Keith Shadis (Tsuguo Mogami/Patrick Seitz).
When the alliance realizes that servicing the seaplane at the port will take too long with the Yeagerists around, they decide to travel by water to the city of Odiha. There, the mechanics can lift it into the air without disturbance. Of course, someone has to make sure the Yeagerists don’t come after them with the other remaining ship.
Magath chooses to stay behind and detonate the other ship, sacrificing herself in hopes of stopping the Crash. But when he gets to the ship in question, Shadis is already there. It turns out that both men had the same idea to stop the Yeagerists. And they both blow up the ship together, a final act for their students (and humanity).

attack on titan Episode 86 may mark the end of Theo Magath and Keith Shadis’ journeys in anime. However, the surrender gives them time to reflect before sacrificing their lives. During their last moments together, the two have a heart-to-heart. Turns out they have a lot in common.
Shadis admits that he decided to work against the Yeagerists when he saw that the alliance was working together to stop Eren. As his former mentor, he was “moved” by his decision. And Magath has similar feelings about the children he trained, even if they come with plenty of regrets.
Although Magath refuses to consider himself a hero, Shadis tells the other man that he is proud of him. The two detonate the ship together, leaving things on a tragic note as they head to attack on titan End of season 4 part 2.
Will ‘Attack on Titan’ kill more characters before the end?
attack on titan Episode 86 leaves viewers waiting for the final showdown, and it seems like a given that more characters will die in the next installment. In fact, many soldiers besides Magath and Shadis are killed in this week’s episode. Even Floch Forster (Kensho Ono/Matt Shipman) is in a troubling situation, though we won’t count him among the dead until the anime shows a body.
Similarly, the final moments of “Flashback” return to a question Annie (Yū Shimamur/Lauren Landa) asked Mikasa (Yui Ishikawa/Trina Nishimura) when the alliance was first formed: can she kill Eren? ? With the anime constantly mentioning this, it’s very possible that she could take out the biggest character of hers. Only time will tell if she really does.
attack on titan Episode 87 comes out on April 3, 2022.
