The attack of the Titans prepares to end its dark journey, throwing expectations to the wind by placing Eren Jaeger in a very different position than we’ve seen in the first three seasons. Recently over at Comicbook.com, we had the opportunity to chat with Bryce Papenbrook, Trina Nishimura, and Josh Grelle who provide the English dub voices for Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, respectively, with the series’ protagonist sharing his thoughts on his favorite . scene he has recorded so far for the final season.
Eren walked the line between hero and villain in the fourth and final season of the anime adaptation of the story that spun from Hajime Isayama’s brain, but the final episode of The attack of the Titans changed things astronomically as the younger Jaeger unleashed the power of Rumbling and swore to kill anyone without Eldian blood. Needless to say, Papenbrook has some big scenes ahead of him to record.
Bryce had this to say about his favorite scene recording the dark anime’s final season:
“Oh, there are a bunch of scenes from this first part of the last season. I mean, just recreating the character and after playing him one-sided for so many years, then playing him as Kruger. And then that twist that happened in the basement, in that underground area, that scene with Reiner, I love the intensity. You just feel the show bubbling and bubbling and bubbling and all of that leading up to this big, massive battle. This whole moment in the first game of the first half of last season was so exciting to be a part of.
I love being able to play Eren in this new way at the beginning and find, rediscover the character after all his changes. Then just play that battle where he’s so violent and just crushes a crowd of people. He does that double bend, which we consider the “Jaeger bomb” right now. As an actor, it’s really fun to be able to do that kind of stuff, to play it that way, and to be part of those moments. So it’s really, this section stands out a lot for me.”
The second half of The attack of the Titans The season finale releases its first English double on February 13.
