Attack on titans 4 × 27: «Retrospective»
Attack the titans come back for another week action packed episode, of those that lift you from the chair by emotion. In fact, “Retrospective” leaves some of the best moments since MAP assumed the challenge of taking the baton of Wit Studio in the animation.
For those who have not yet seen the episode, it is now available in the original version with Spanish subtitles through Crunchyroll. And, if you have already seen it, then we review the most interesting parts of the episode, but not before remembering that the following lines will contain spoilers of the same.
In the previous episode, the plan of armin to seize the airship without spilling blood failed and the Alliance had to engage in combat with the Jaegers. From this moment, Conny, my house and the rest must put aside their feelings for the people in front of them and complete your mission to the last consequenceseven if these involve having to kill their former colleagues in the army.
During practically the entire episode there are some of the best action scenes we’ve ever seen animated till the date. The team of MAP has taken many liberties to adapt the 129th chapter of the manga and the result is spectacular. Numerous fight scenes have been added to give all characters a moment to shine (especially my house), mixing CGI and 2D animation in an entire audiovisual show.
At the plot level, I am amazed by the contrast between how the story began and where it is in this point. She began by glorifying the terror of the titans and the spectacle of fighting them using the 3D Maneuver Kit. Now that we’ve finally returned to an episode that relies heavily on a fight between Titans and humans, the interpretation we have of said confrontation is completely different. Victory is more somber than rewardingand there is no longer terror, but fear and despair on both sides.
hange, my house and the rest, helped by annie and Reiner in their titan form, they must fight their way to the airship. Their plans change when they discover that it actually takes half a day to get it up and running. From that moment on, they must protect Mrs. Kiyomi and the engineers, who know how to get it up and running, all the way to the ship, their means of transportation to another area where they can prepare to deal with Eren and the Rumble.
During combat, it is especially conspicuous emotionality and even vulnerability from the eyes of annie when he uses his body to protect others azumabite, as she remembers that in many ways she is still a scared girl stuck in the body of a monster. Also, the scenes of Reiner protecting anniein which the titans are shown to be very fragile in many ways in the face of advanced weapons such as lightning spears, convey emotions that would have been unimaginable in the first arcs.
The advance in anti-Titan weapons puts Reiner and annie against the ropes, so Falco decides to go to his aid. The child ignores the warnings of pieck and transforms, so we can see him for the first time in his titan form. However, as expected, Falco ends up losing control and attacks a pieck that manages to retain it so that Magath I can get it out of the titan’s interior.
Still, the Alliance outperforms the jaegaristas both in close combat and with the powers of the titans. However, at least for me, each death brings little satisfactiongiven that floch and company are actually frightened individuals blindly and desperately clinging to the only way they see viable for survival. In fact, floch He tries until his last breath, convinced that his cause is just. But Gaby he shoots him before he can damage the boat they are going to flee on.
Finally, Magath, hange and the rest manage to reach the ship, having fulfilled their objective. The moment in which everyone is seen exhausted, helping each other to get on the boat, seems very significant to me, taking into account what was experienced in the previous two episodes. They are old enemies supporting each other after a small victory that it is only the beginning of the hardest fight that lies ahead.
As everyone leaves on the ship, Magathaware that the Jaegers could use a ship Marley that is in the port, decides to stay behind. The man meets Shadiswho has lent a hand to the Alliance by blowing up the train carrying the reinforcements for the Jaegers. Both form a small alliance to destroy that only ship that remains, obtaining a round end for their respective character arcs.
Shadis It finally has its moment to shine. He remembers when he was the commander of the Reconnaissance Troops, a position he resigned from and which he subsequently held. Erwin, knowing that he did absolutely nothing but bring death to his companions. For his part, Magath reinforces what he had already been building in previous episodes: he is aware of the mistake he made by imposing hatred on some children, taking away their right to have been able to have a normal life. So much Keith Shadis What Magath understand before they blow up the ship that, after a lifetime of mistakes, they’re doing the right thing.
Surprisingly, the episode does not end there, but after the ending we have the scene that begins chapter 130 of the manga animated. Given the rate at which colossal titans advance, it is impossible to save Liberian and to the continent Marley. anniewhose only motivation for fighting was to save his father, gives up and admits not wanting to fight anymore, in which he is possibly the most human reaction we have seen so far to the character.
Finally, the preview of the next episode gives very few clues of what will be animated for the hypothetical end of the anime of Attack the titans. There is still a lot of content to cover for a single episode, but we may have news on March 27, since the broadcast of Attack the titans for the celebration of the event Japanese Animen. We will have to wait until April 3 to find out how it continues and how the final stretch of the manga will be animated. Bets open.
