Review of Attack on Titan 4 × 24: “Pride” – Ramen Para Dos

Attack on titans 4 × 24: «Pride»

new sunday of Attack the titans and in Ramen for Two We bring you another new review, this time of episode 24 of this final season. This one is now available at Crunchyroll in original version with subtitles in Spanish.

Specifically, “Pride” adapts chapter 126 of the manga, one of the most criticized to date by the readers and that, personally, seems to me probably the worst written by its author Hajime Isayama. Nevertheless, MAP manages to slightly improve the original productalthough he continues to have many rhythm problems.

The episode begins with hange shooting two army soldiers Paradise. It’s not something that she obviously finds enjoyable to do, as she can tell from the tears she sheds. But is in a desperate situation and it is your survival or that of the Jaegers. He cannot allow himself to die given the situation they are in, much less with a Levi badly wounded

After healing the wounds Levi and listen to the message Eren when starting the Rumble, Levi and hange start their march meeting pieck already Magath along the way, thus picking up the ending of last week’s episode. The fact that this was the first meeting between the leaders of both factions made me think that a very interesting conversation could take place between the two, like the one held by Mr. Magath and willy tybur in the arc of Marley, perhaps to discuss the current conflict and map out some strategies. However, all we get is a simple dialogue, lacking in depth and that is limited to a brief exchange of words to form an alliance that is based on killing zeke.

Later, the episode takes us to Conny, tormented by the feelings produced by having to sacrifice Falco for saving his mother. armin will arrive in time to stop him attempting to sacrifice himself for the child and being saved at the last second by Conny. Despite how quickly this subplot is resolved, the development of Conny it is much more satisfying. The boy realizes that the only way to fulfill his mother’s wish to become a good soldier is to help people in need. pity that everything is a pretext so that armin, Conny, Gabi and Falco come closer to trost (which we interpret to be the closest city to the village of Ragako) to thus meet annie.

On the other hand, my house and Jean stay with the Jaegers. The first is going to visit Louisethe girl he saved 4 years ago during the attack on trost and that he has joined the army out of sheer devotion to her. As seen in previous episodes, this devotion of Louise toward my house led him even to keep the scarf, something with a deep meaning for my house. It’s a reminder that while the world can be cruel, it’s also a beautiful placein which Eren it represents that warmth of what is a home for her.

That said, the reaction my house with a dying Louise it’s understandable. my house she is colder than usual and demands that the girl return her scarf. It’s not a fair deal, but my house is found in a situation of hopelessness, pessimism and trauma around him because of what he experienced during the last few hours. And yet he is able to make the difficult decision to join the alliance to stop Eren.

On the other hand, it does not seem that the same initially happens with Jean. In a kind of “test of courage” to know their level of loyalty towards the Jaegers, floch forces him to shoot Onyankopon. However, the boy “misses” four shots which turn out to be the signal for the Cargo Titan to enter the scene. pieck put into his mouth Yelena, Onyankopon and Jean, generating chaos among the soldiers, because they believe that the trains have been devoured. In the meantime, armin, my house, annie, Conny, Gabi and Falco they have taken supplies and all together they flee to the forest, where they are waiting for them Magath, Levi and hange.

Onyankoponwho was convinced that Jean would shoot him, he asks why he has joined the alliance. She could have had everything she wanted: a nice and quiet life, free from war. However, Jean realizes that the lives of those who have died (making a clear reference to trostthe death of Frame and the night he chose the Reconnaissance Troops for the Military Police) would have been useless. Jean he has everything to lose by doing this, and frankly, even if they succeed, he and the rest would end up in a very bad position. But he does it anyway, because it’s the right thing to do.

At this point, some may be wondering how it is possible that hange, armin and company are willing to partner with Marley after all that has happened. But the truth is that at this moment in history no one cares about war as such, only protect their beloved series. Which armin and the rest they want is to stop the destruction of the world and the imminent death of millions of people, even if it means having to trust Marleybecause their goal is the same.

The problem with this episode, as mentioned at the beginning of this review, is how these alliances have been managed. I think the fact for the story to go in the direction it is doing makes a lot of sense. All the characters know what the others have been through and why they did what they did, so they want to end this cycle. But I would have liked to see them discuss and come to an agreement on why it makes sense to make an alliance instead of everything being so ridiculously direct and absurd, especially the reunion with annie.

The last two episodes have done a good job of portraying how bleak the situation is right now and how both sides are partly right, but also wrong on many points about their motivations. Being the resolutions so hasty, that emotional nuance of the previous episodes was missing and so the sudden change in tone from desperation to “fun” moments doesn’t feel natural.

Viewers can know annie has changed after what she heard during her crystallized time, because we have seen her talk to hitch about it, but the characters don’t. It doesn’t make sense to me that after everything they’ve been through they’re such friends and everything is so natural between them.while with Reiner we see them behave at the end of the episode in a much more strained way. Still, everyone is going to start working together to stop Eren. We will see how this alliance develops next Sunday.
