Shingeki no Kyojin: The Founding Titan’s creature is similar to one from prehistory — Kudasai

The story of Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) is at its peak, as the series progressively heads toward its final showdown. After a long time, readers of the manga and anime will be able to witness the “rumble” with their own eyes. However, before the end is near, something very interesting has come to light.

In the most recent episodes of the fourth season of Shingeki no Kyojinthe anime revealed the origin of the titans and the background of Ymir Fritz. The story eventually reached the point where Eren Yeager successfully inherited the Founding Titan powers from Ymir Fritz.

However, during one scene, the anime showed an unknown creature that merged with Ymir Fritz, giving him the powers of the Founding Titan. This seems pretty normal from the perspective of anime viewers, but some fans have linked its origin to a creature that existed millions of years ago.

According to a series of tweets and viral images on the Internet, fans have claimed that the parasite shown in the recent episode of the second part of the anime’s final season looks exactly like an extinct species called “Hallucigenia“. Scientific studies claim that Hallucigenia was one of the oldest creatures that existed about 500 million years ago, during the Cambrian Period. An English paleontologist named Simon Conway Morris discovered the fossils of this extinct species in 1977.

Hallucigenia’s description says that it had about ten pairs of spindly legs. When it was first discovered, scientists named it “Hallucigenia: The worm with the missing head“However, later studies managed to find his missing head as well. But interestingly, when comparing the Founder Titan parasite and the Hallucigenia model side by side, the resemblance between the two is stark. They are exactly the same, proving the fan theory that the Founder Titan’s parasite is the fictional representation of Hallucigenia.

However, originally the identity of the parasite is unclear in both the manga and anime. Hajime Isayama, the creator of the series, never mentioned anything about the parasite, so it’s hard to tell if this is real inspiration or just an imaginary thought that just so happened to turn out to be true. Still, some fans believe it was a God who took pity on Ymir Fritz and gave him the Founder Titan powers, while others believe the parasite was the source of all life on the planet. But, there is no legitimate evidence to confirm either theory. And, it’s no surprise that the Founding Titan is a reflection of the extinct species, Hallucigenia.
