Erwin Smith is one of the most beloved characters in the world of Shingeki no Kyojin, or Attack on Titan, and this is proven by his positions in the popularity rankings of the show made in Japan, which were first or second, never less.

And it is that the Commander of the Exploration Corps is a very important character in the development of the plot, by leading the human factions that face the titans and their death, at the end of the Arc of Return to Shinganshina only made him be more loved and longed for by fans of Hajime Isayama’s work.

This popularity has made him the protagonist of quite a few fanarts and of great quality, among which are some that take it to real life. For example, the well-known artist Art of Simi who drew the characters of Shingeki no Kyojin, in real life, but as if they were old photos, made Erwin mounted on his horse shouting his iconic phrase “surrender your hearts”.

But now, an illustration that is gaining popularity is this one made by the artist Ellis Court who not only brought Commander Smith to real life, she transformed Chris Evans into him and the truth is that the ‘Cap’ also has this role to The perfection. Take a look at the illustration below:

But this is not new to the Shingeki no Kyojin fandom. In fact, the ‘Cap’ is one of the most mentioned actors among fans when wondering who Erwin should be in a hypothetical live-action. Although other names such as Michael Fassbender are mentioned, the truth is that Chris Evans is the favorite of the great majority, that is why there are many more works that make him the beloved character of anime and manga.

Look at this drawing too, where Erwin in flesh and blood appears doing the traditional Scout Corps salute:

By the way, the “flesh and blood Erwin” does exist. It is the model that Hajime Isayama relied on to physically create the commander. In fact, a year ago she decided to honor the anime character and dressed up as him to celebrate Halloween. See here how it looked.
