During the last Pokémon Direct, many announcements were made by Nintendo. Between the arrival at the end of the year of 9G called Pokémon Scarlet and Purple as well as the free update 1.1 of Pokémon Legends Arceus and its batch of new missions, fans of the license had something to rejoice.
If there is any news that has been slightly “overshadowed” by the announcement of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it is that of the release of an anime around the universe of the last Pokémon game.
An original web animation
This is how future anime is described by Nintendo in the official announcement. This is a short press release that provides some details on the context and the release date of the project.
The plot will therefore take place in Hisui, a mysterious region which although it was covered by the game Pokémon Legends: Arceus, remains largely unexplored and surely full of surprises that the anime will be able to reveal to us. Regarding the studios working on the project, these are W.I.T. Studioswho worked on seasons 1-3 of the famous “Attack on Titan” (or “Shingeki No Kyojin” in Japanese), so we can expect a great show!
A mysterious shadow
An image that gives us a brief look at the production is attached to the official Pokémon Legends: Arceus website announcement. What is interesting is that it is possible to see a person in a snowy forest, followed by what seems to be a Zorua in Hisui form. This is only a shadow, but the resemblance is striking.
Hisui’s Zorua is quite a popular Pokémon among the community because despite its adorable and gentle appearance, it belongs to the “normal” and “spectrum” types and is described as “a departed soul, resurrected in Hisui”. It is a “resentful” Pokémon, which therefore has a long history behind it, which may ultimately turn out to be quite dark… We can perhaps expect this said story to be addressed in the upcoming anime.
A release date?
No precise release date but the press release did announce a release in early summer 2022. However, it’s quite likely that Nintendo or The Pokémon Company will announce a release date in the coming weeks.
We will therefore have to wait a few more months before (re)discovering the mysterious lands of Hisui, at the heart of a plot that promises to be rich in emotions!
