Thanks to the efforts of streaming platforms, anime has gained tremendous popularity outside Japan’s borders in recent years. For this reason, today more than ever it is very common to discover that great sports figures are followers of some series such as Attack on Titan, one piece, Naruto, etc. However, it is rare for an entire group to pay homage to the Japanese animation industry.

LA Chargers brings out their most otaku side and presents their calendar with references to the anime industry

As usually happens at the beginning of each season, the NFL football teams reveal their schedules where they explain which will be the 17 games they will play in the coming months. Admittedly, these presentations are unexciting and seldom spread beyond the circles close to the sport. That, however, has just changed.

What happens is that the LA Chargers team caught the attention of locals and strangers when it showed its calendar for the 2022 season. This is not because there is a surprise that radically changes the paradigm of the sports discipline, but because the presentation video was full of references to Japanese series that we love.

Through a post on Twitter, the American football team shared a great animation of just over 2 minutes where the dates for each of this year’s games are revealed. The interesting thing, as we already mentioned, is that each ad is accompanied by tributes to series such as one piece, Naruto, Attack on Titan, demon slayer and much more.

The cherry on the cake is the quality of the footage. The organization was not limited to making static images with references, but it is a full-fledged animation that reminds us of the opening that we can see in anime. All this gains momentum thanks to the music that accompanies the sequence.

Unsurprisingly, the football team’s initiative received praise from the community. At the time of writing these lines, the video has already exceeded 5.2 million views and has more than 43.7 likes on Twitter.
