Fans of the highly rated Demon Slayer anime are still waiting for a release date for the show’s third season. It is said that the upcoming season will cover the Swordsmith Village Arc, which will see the village targeted by some of the most powerful higher ranked demons. The new season will also reveal the powers of other Hashiras, especially the Love and Mist Hashiras. That said, Demon Slayer fans should familiarize themselves with the breath forms used by those in the Demon Slayer Corps.

flower breath

As the name suggests, Flower Breathing is a breathing style that creates attacks, moves, and techniques based on flowers and fruits. It is one of the two techniques derived from Water Breathing, along with Snake Breathing.

In the series, there are two known Flower Breathing users, namely Kanae Kocho and Kanao Tsuyuri. Although it creates graceful movements and attacks that could significantly damage enemies, it has some drawbacks. A user has the ability to see the world in slow motion while using the breathing technique, at the cost of damaging their eyes in the long run. Because it can be detrimental to the user, there are other best breathing techniques to master.

breath of love

There are plenty of likeable Hashira in Demon Slayer, but it’s hard not to be smitten with the love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji. As a pillar of love, she developed a breathing style called Love Breathing, which is derived from Flame Breathing.

Through Love Breathing, Mitsuri can gain superhuman strength without having to alter his muscle mass and keep his figure nimble. Because of this, Mitsuri can land fast, hard-hitting blows that can greatly damage and surprise opponents, as her body doesn’t match the power she delivers. Unfortunately, only Mitsuri can use Love Breathing from now on in the series, as it is uniquely suited to her body composition.

snake breath

Another breathing technique that can only be used by a single member of the Demon Slayer Corps is Serpent’s Breath. One of the strongest Hashira, Obanai Iguro, mastered Water Breathing and refined it to offer Serpent Breathing. Obviously, the breathing style mimics snakes, allowing the user to access attacks and techniques that resemble the way snakes move.

Paired with a twisted blade, Serpent Breathing can easily slice through enemies in a twisty pattern. The breathing technique also allows Obanai to quickly spin around his opponent and decapitate them. Due to the agility and intricate movements associated with snake breath, it is a breathing technique any lowly demon should fear.

sound breathing

Anime viewers haven’t been able to witness Tengen Uzui’s Sound Breathing yet, but as one of the Hashira, it goes without saying that his technique would have to be powerful to earn him a place among the demon slayers of anime. ‘elite. Tengen, as an individual, brings more strength to the breathing style due to his sonic analysis of his enemies’ movements. Sonic Breathing is derived from Thunder Breathing and is intended to disorient the enemy through the volume of the user’s movements. It has five techniques, but only three were revealed in Demon Slayer, these being First Form: Roar, Fourth Form: Constant Resounding Slashes, and Fifth Form: String Performance. They are all useful and exclusive to Tengen and his large and explosive Nichirin Katanas. Until Tengen fights top tier six [demon]no one had ever survived a fight against his sound breathing technique.

wind breath

Sanemi Shinazugawa is the current Wind Hashira specializing in another direct derivative of Sun Breathing. Beast Breathing comes from Wind Breathing, making it the base technique for what Insuke Hashibira eventually develops with a honed sense of touch.

There are nine forms that range from the most basic dash and slash to one of the most powerful moves, Gale – Sudden Gusts. Wind Breathing mimics tornadoes and other whirlwinds for mostly offensive techniques.

insect breathing

Derived from aquatic and floral respiration, Shinobu Kocho uses insect respiration. Shinobu created this technique to mimic the deadly bites and movements of insects. His sword is notoriously thin with a needle point to replicate the function of a dart to inject Wisteria poison into demons.

There are four techniques called Butterfly Dance, Dance of the Bee Sting, Dance of the Dragonfly, and Dance of the Centipede. Shinobu matches the movements of the butterfly, dragonfly, and centipede, as well as the sting and speed of the bee, to decapitate his demon opponents.

beast breath

Inosuke Hashibira, an erratic character voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, created Beast Breathing from Wind Breathing and is the only character to use it. This technique mimics the way wild animals move in nature, and it is intended to be unpredictable and primitive. It has 10 “fangs”, also known as shapes, which help Inosuke imagine different styles of claw-like slashes.

Inosuke created the Beast Breathing style while surviving with lone boars in the mountains. He looks like an erratic character who used the technique to go on a rampage when fighting demons, but he also had to maintain an incredible sense of touch to be in tune with the animal senses. This is evident in his fight against Enmu in the Demon Slayer movie.

Mist Breathing

Muichiro Tokito is the youngest of the Hashira and a descendant of the higher rank demon Kokushibo. He achieved Hashira status after only two months of training.

Mist Breathing copies the way mists obscure and allow quick strikes after creating a Cloud of Confusion. There are six forms of Mist Breathing, plus a seventh developed by Muichiro. Mist breathing is a substyle of wind breathing. The seventh form, Obscuring Clouds, is the strongest use of Mist Breathing as it disorients, defends with a wrap of mist, and delivers strikes in the blink of an eye.

thunder breath

Another of the main breathing styles directly derived from Sun Breathing, Thunder Breathing mimics the speed of lightning. Zenitsu Agatsuma, voiced by Hiro Shimono, describes it as a force running through the muscles and blood vessels of the legs.

While Thunder Breathing has seven forms in total, fans have only seen how Zenitsu was able to make it his own by mastering the first form: Thunderclap and Flash. He has developed three variants, Six Fold, Eight Fold, and God Speed, and a seventh form only seen in the manga called Honoikazuchi no Kami which allows him to dash with a single blow in the form of a yellow lightning in the shape of a dragon.

Aquatic breathing

Not only is Water Breathing directly derived from Sun Breathing, but it has three variations of its own – Flower, Insect, and Snake – all forms used by Giyu Tomioka’s fellow Hashira. It is one of the most commonly used breathing styles, having been cultivated by Sakonji Urokodaki and used by Tomioka, Murata, Sabito, Makomo, Tanjiro, and Aoi Kanzaki.

Water Breathing has 10 techniques plus the eleventh form, which is Dead Calm, which was developed and used exclusively by Tomioka. Like other breathing styles, Water Breathing has proven to be one of the most powerful based on how its users have developed it. Fans have already had a chance to witness all the forms used in the anime as Tanjiro moves towards his family’s Sun Breathing style.

flame breathing

One of the most renowned Hashira and a fan-favorite Demon Slayer character, Kyojuro Rengoku, was the main user of Flame Breathing. Fans got to see just how skilled he was in the recent movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train.

Flame Breathing has nine techniques, the ninth being a Demon Slayer Rengoku family specialty. Flame Breathing utilizes the motion of flames and the user’s abilities to deliver intense, searing strikes. The key to flame breathing is to visualize the manipulation of flames. Flame Breathing enabled the creation of Love Breathing, developed by fellow Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, to better utilize her unique muscles.

stone breathing

A form that has only been seen in the manga so far, Stone Breathing is one of five original styles derived from Sun Breathing. He has five known forms, all mastered by the Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima, though they were not developed by him. Gyomei is often referred to by fellow Hashira Tanjiro and Inosuke as the strongest Hashira. Being blind from birth allowed him to develop a connection to the Earth and master Stone Breathing in just two months.

Stone Breathing has five techniques that mimic earth and stone using the ground beneath the user for more vigorous attacks. The form itself wouldn’t be as powerful without a user like Gyomei, but it’s one of the most unique, making it harder to master and a more unexpected technique.

breath of the sun

Tanjiro Kamado, the main protagonist voiced by Natsuki Hanae, will soon be harnessing what is known as Hinokami Kagura, or Sun Breathing. It is the oldest and most powerful breathing style that was used to develop the flame, water, moon, thunder, stone and wind breathing techniques that the slayers of demons use to this day. It mimics the intensity and versatility of the sun, diminishing a demon’s ability to regenerate.

This form of breathing remains a well-kept secret of the Kamado family. It has 13 techniques and unlike other styles they are not listed as “First Form” and so on, they are simply named for their movement such as “Dragon Sun Halo Head Dance”. Tanjiro hasn’t mastered it yet, but he’s started using it with his water breathing as a base, and when he channeled it, he said it boosts his abilities even more than water breathing does. had ever done.
