Demon Slayer: another slayer lays down his arms, but with panache!

Although endowed with exceptional abilities, demon slayers are primarily men and women. Unlike demons who are immortal and can regenerate infinitely, a slayer’s life can end at any time.

The latest example is Flame Pillar Kyojuro Rengoku who perished during his fight against Akaza. The latest episode of Demon Slayer saw another slayer lay down their arms.

SPOILER ALERT!

Since the very beginning of Koyoharu Gotouge’s work, many members of the Demon Slayers have taken the weapon to the left. The pillars, who are however the most powerful fighters among the slayers are not exempt. During the battle against the demonic moon duo Gyutaro and Daki, the Pillar of Sound Tengen Uzui saw all the colors.

The same obviously goes for his companions in misfortune, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke and Nezuko. Defeating a higher rank demon is beyond the reach of any slayer. This was seen again with Daki and Gyutaro. Although they are not as strong as the demon Akaza, the fight was dantesque. At the end of this epic battle, Tengen’s group did not come out in one piece.

Tengen Uzui can no longer be the Pillar of Sound

Daki and Gyutaro are no longer around, but the Slayers have lost an exceptional fighter. After a fierce struggle, Tengen and Tanjiro’s group will finally be able to breathe. If for some, a little rest is enough to get back on their feet, another will have to retire. Tengen Uzui came out of this fight badly damaged and if unlike Rengoku he survived, he won’t be able to fight anymore.

Gyutaro pulled out all the stops with the Pillar of Sound. Before he died, Gyutaro still took an eye and a hand from him. With so many injuries, he can no longer ensure his place as a pillar. But even weakened physically, Tengen can render services to demon slayers. So let’s avoid burying it too soon.

Tengen leaves the battlefield with a light heart

It is important to point out that it has been more than 100 years since a Pillar was able to defeat a higher ranking demon. In the case of the Daki-Gyutaro duo alone, 22 pillars perished under their blow. Just seeing Tengen still alive is a resounding feat. Tengen has fulfilled his mission perfectly and now he must keep a promise made to his wife Hinatsuru.

From the memories evoked in the episode, Tengen promised to retire if he managed to beat a higher rank. Whatever happened, Tengen would have left with the honors after this last feat of arms. That way he wouldn’t look like he was running away from the battlefield. From now on, he can no longer go back on his word and given his condition, he has little choice. So he leaves on a good note.
