Everything indicates that the mark on Tanjiro’s forehead has a greater meaning that could link him to something much bigger if you take into account what is being lied about in the most recent episode of the second season of “Demon Slayer”.
When Tanjiro began to learn more about Hinokami Kagura from Kyojuro Rengoku’s family with the beginning of the Entertainment District Arc, discovered that there was actually a secret breathing style (known as Solar Breathing) that is actually related to his family’s past.

The young man ignores this because he was not born with this mark, but instead got it due to a burn accident years before and an injury during the entrance exam.
Is this the reason why the character believes that he will not be able to take advantage of this power because it is not exactly “chosen one”, but it opens up some questions about its potential. If this power is already in his family, there’s a chance that Tanjiro could access it at some point in the story. Even the dangerous use of abilities in the most recent episode turned out to be an explosive new one, so it’s unknown what kind of power he can access.
