Cult manga par excellence, Dragon Ball continues to influence many authors even today. One of the most famous mangakas today has also paid a magnificent tribute to the famous manga ofAkira Toriyama.
A wonderful tribute
The influence of Dragon Ball no longer needs to be proven. Since its first publication in 1984, Akira Toriyama’s famous manga sits among the most popular manga in the world, and has played a particularly important role in the success of Japanese productions around the world.
Moreover, many mangakas regularly pay tribute to the author of Dragon Ball and Dr Slump. Among them of course we count Eiichiro Oda, the author One Piece, and Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto or even Kohei Horikoshi, who is currently a hit with My Hero Academia.
But today is another big name in manga that pays homage to the adventures of Son Goku and Vegeta. This is Koyoharu Gotôge, the author of Demon Slayer, whose second season of the anime is currently airing. As you can see, this is a tribute to the cover of volume 32 of the famous manga. We can see Vegeta, Future Trunks and Bulma.
This tribute is part ofa more global project, entitled DRAGON BALL Super Gallery Project. Each month, a well-known mangaka draws one of the manga’s 42 covers, until November 2024.
A real success, the series Demon Slayer is one of the most important manga of the last decade. Proof of its success, the license brought in the equivalent of Togo’s GDP in 2020. An exceptional amount! Also, given its success, see Koyoharu Gotôge pay homage to Akira Toriyama and Dragon Ball Z.
