Eiichirō Oda’s moving message to the creator of Hunter x Hunter

It is rare to see Eiichirō Oda, creator of One Piece, speak like this. But to celebrate the 35-year career of his colleague Yoshiro Togashi, Luffy’s dad marked the occasion and split a particularly moving message.

Eiichiro Oda sends an adorable message to Yoshiro Togashi

Whereas Hunter x Hunter finally returns for new chapters after almost four long years of hiatus, fans were able to celebrate the return of the cult manga of Yoshiro Togashi in the pages of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The year 2022 is special for Togashi, as it marks its 35 years of career as a mangaka. On this occasion, a special exhibition is currently taking place in Japan highlighting all the works of Gon’s dad. Many mangakas have contributed to this event by sending illustrations and messages which are then exhibited. Among them, we find an unpublished message fromEiichiro Oda.

Oda says what he thinks of Togashi

Togashi received a special message from Eiichirō Oda, who sent him a unique drawing bringing together Gon, Luffy and Chopper. An unexpected crossover but one that should make many fans smile. The illustration comes with a heartwarming message from the creator of the Straw Hat hack:

A few years ago, I met Togashi for the first time and thanked him (…) I can tell you that I am grateful since he judged my work for the rookie award of the ‘year. I’ve been following Togashi’s works since his awards, and I see him as a cunning author who can change his appearance at will. He shows his abilities in important places. That’s why I can’t take my eyes off him. The story of Amanuma and Kurama in Yu Yu Hakusho gave me goosebumps. I admired the freedom of the E-level. I believe that writers can become slaves to their readers.

Such a message from the creator of the most popular manga in the world is not insignificant, but it is not the only note he has received. A good handful of mangakas mobilized to mark the occasion. We find in particular, Hirohiko Araki (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) but also Koyoharu Gotouge, the creator of Demon Slayer.
