Every Major Demon (Monster) In Demon Slayer Season 1 – GameSpot

The demons of demon slayer are immortal and (mostly) malevolent beings who serve as the main antagonists of the series. Although all demons share basic abilities and weaknesses, there is a wide variety of demons across demon slayer. As Tanjiro and his friends, Inosuke and Zenitsu, rise through the ranks of the Demon Slayer Corps, they face an increasingly tough array of demons.

All the demons in demon slayer possess immortality, regenerative abilities, manipulation of flesh, and physical abilities beyond those of humans. Consuming humans allows demons to gain strength and power. In demon slayer, Demons also possess unique abilities, known as Blood Demon Arts, which are spells they can cast due to the unique nature of their blood. These combined abilities create a vast array of demons across the demon slayer universe.

Demon weaknesses tend to be relatively universal; Fatal Sunburn, Decapitation by Nichirin Blades, Wisteria Blossoms, and Kibutsuji’s Curse affect all demons (with a few exceptions). However, the fact that each demon has unique abilities means that Slayers must always adapt to defeat their foes. Here is a guide to the biggest demons of demon slayer season 1.

Nezuko Kamado

One of the main protagonists of demon slayer is Nezuko Kamado, Tanjiro’s younger sister. After being turned into a demon during a massacre of their family, Tanjiro states that he will find a way to restore Nezuko’s humanity. Nezuko’s bond with her brother is what separates her from most other demons. While demons generally lose their connection to their humanity, Nezuko has killed several demons for trying to kill her brother (or any human, as she’s been conditioned to see them as her family). Nezuko regenerates her strength differently than most demons; instead of consuming humans, she is able to restore her power through sleep. She also has the ability to manipulate her size to suit her needs, such as shrinking down to a child’s size to fit inside her box to protect herself from sunlight.

Nezuko is incredibly strong in the battle against demon slayeris other demons. His demonic status gave him incredible physical strength; especially in her kicks, with which she knocked a demon’s head from her body. His Blood Demon Art also allows him to ignite his own blood into pink demonic flames that deal significant damage to other demons while leaving humans unharmed. In demon slayer season 2, Nezuko also displays unparalleled healing abilities on herself and humans.

Tamayo and Yushiro

Tamayo and Yushiro are two other demonic protagonists that Tanjiro and Nezuko encounter in Asakusa, Tokyo at the start of demon slayer season 1. After a chance encounter with Muzan Kibutsuji, the Slayers learn that Lady Tamayo and Yushiro also hope to defeat Kibutsuji, the evil leader of the Demons. As a practicing doctor, Tamayo modified both of their bodies to require minimal blood and severed his own demonic connection with demon slayer‘s Muzan Kitbutsuji, meaning his curse no longer affects him. She has also developed a method to create new Demons, a process she offers to terminally ill patients as an alternative to death; the first demon she created was Yushiro. Because Yushiro was transformed by Tamayo, he is also unrelated to Kibutsuji. Upon discovering that she had the ability to create demons, Tanjiro agreed to bring Tamayo samples of demonic blood and allow her to study Nezuko in exchange for Tamayo developing a cure for demonism. Like Nezuko, Tamayo and Yushiro do not consume humans for food; instead, Tamayo buys the blood they need from the town’s poor.

Tamayo and Yushiro’s Blood Demon Arts played a vital role in Susamaru and Yahaba’s battle during demon slayer season 1. Apart from his medicinal abilities, Tamayo is able to cast several spells using his own blood. Scent of Illusory Blood: Visual Dream creates a hallucination of flowers to hinder vision, while Magical Aroma of Daylight acts as a truth serum that compels the recipient to confess their lies. Yushiro’s Blood Demon Art, Blindfold, gives him the ability to mask the appearance of something (like Tamayo’s Clinic) or reveal the presence of something (like Yahaba’s Koketsu Arrows magic ability) using of a paper talisman.

The hand demon

The Hand Demon was a ruthless demon that Tanjiro encountered during the final selection at the start of demon slayer season 1. The demon was captured by a young Sakonji Urokodaki, Water Hashira and Tanjior’s retired mentor, and trapped on Fujikasane Mountain to be used as an obstacle for the Final Selection. Enraged, the Hand Demon swore to kill as many trained Urokodaki apprentices as possible, consuming 13 before. demon slayerTanjiro manages to behead him. Consuming a large amount of humans allowed the demon to manipulate its flesh well, creating armor with its own extra limbs. These extra limbs, along with the thick neck muscles, caused several blades to snap off before he could be decapitated.

Susamaru and Yahaba

Susamaru and Yahaba were demons sent by Muzan Kibutsuji to hunt down Tanjiro in Asakusa after his first encounter with Tanjior in demon slayer season 1. Susamaru has a ferocious fighting style centered around incredibly dense balls of Temari that his Blood Demon Art allows him to conjure at will, which can reach speeds intense enough to decimate demonic limbs on contact. Yahaba possesses two transformed eyes in the palms of his hands that guide his senses, allowing him to create Koketsu arrows that can force a target in any direction the arrow is pointing. Although Susamaru claims to be one of the Twelve Kizuki – a group of demon slayer‘s Strongest Demons – the lack of a number imprinted on his eye after his death at Tamayo’s hands reveals that it wasn’t.

Kyogai (the drum demon)

After helping Tamayo and Yushiro defeat Susamaru and Yahaba, Tanjiro then encounters Kyogai, the Drum Demon, in a twisted mansion. Kyogai has 6 Tsuzumi Drums built into his body, and when the drums were played, they would have various effects on his surroundings inside his mansion. The drums could rotate the room, teleport the occupants of the mansion, and create a slashing attack. Kyogai was a former Twelve Kizuki, but was demoted by Muzan for not being strong enough. Kyogai managed to trap several demons, civilians, and Demon Slayers (including Inosuke) in the maze of his Drum House in search of a “rare blood” that would grant more power than any other. Although Kyogai was defeated by Tanjiro, it was a bittersweet moment, as the demon found something he had never found in life; someone who found value in his drumming and writing, past passions of his human life.

The “family” of spiders

The Spider Family are a clan of demons encountered by Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke on Natagumo Mountain during one of the final arcs of demon slayer season 1. The clan consisted of five members; the Mother, who could turn people into puppets with her webs, the Son, who could manipulate poison, the Daughter, who could manipulate silk, Father Spider, who could shapeshift into a stronger form, and finally Rui, which is particularly resistant to the Nichirin swords of the Demon Slayers. Rui was Lower Rank 5 of the Twelve Kizuki, and the demon who built the “Family” of Spiders using his own blood to strengthen the other members. Rui has similar web abilities to the rest of his family and also has the power to change their appearance to match his own to create a “perfect family”. Rui was in love with Nezuko and Tanjiro’s true brotherly bond, something he never had with “family”. After the rest of the family was eliminated, Rui was beheaded by Giyu Tomioka, the current Water Hashira, in one of the demon slayer the most climactic moments of season 1.

Muzan Kibutsuji and the twelve Kizuki

Muzan Kibutsuji is the original demon of demon slayerand is also the strongest that exists. He has physical, mental, and supernatural abilities that trump all other demons combined. Kibutsuji has the ability to create new demons with his blood, and passing his blood allows him to both increase the power of other demons and curse the receiving demon to be destroyed by speaking his name – or whenever he wishes. . He also has the ability to transform his body into any shape. Since this ability is unique to him, it’s likely he was the one who turned Nezuko into a demon in one of the first demon slayer episodes.

The Twelve Kizuki are twelve powerful demons who share Muzan’s blood and serve him most closely. They are divided into Upper Rank 6 and Lower Rank 6 – although after Rui’s death, the remaining Lower Ranks were destroyed by Muzan after he deemed them too weak to be useful. Only Lower Rank 1 Enmu was allowed to survive with an injection of Muzan’s blood and an order to kill the Hashira Rengoku and Tanjiro in the latest episode of demon slayer season 1.
