Summer vacation is here. While some go on a trip, others stay at home or find cousins. The advantage of the Nintendo Switch remains its mobility and user-friendly games to enjoy this free time alone, with friends or family.
Nintendo Switch Sports
After sixteen years, Nintendo Switch Sports arrives to succeed Wii Sports. As its name suggests, we have a sports game console combining classic disciplines, but also new challenges in the license. We thus find the chambara (fight of wooden swords), bowling and tennis. The new disciplines are football, badminton and volleyball. Golf is expected to arrive this fall to flesh out the game.
Goodbye angular avatars, Nintendo Switch Sports now features characters with soft and cute Mii faces. The game becomes even more fun with friends and family. The colorful and warm rendering improves the friendly spirit. All the interest of the title lies in these assets.
Despite some failures in motion-gaming once the two players are overwhelmed, family sport in front of the TV is still a way to let off steam together. If you don’t have Nintendo Switch Sports yet, you can get it for €39.99.
Mario Strikers: Battle League Football
Also in sports, the revival of the Mario Strikers series returns with Battle League Football. Just released in June 2022, this game seems to be planned for the holidays. Mario Strikers: Battle League Football shines with its fast-paced multiplayer sessions. It is indeed possible to play up to eight players simultaneously on a console. The game actually offers three modes. You will therefore be able to play between the quick match, the cups, and the club strikers.
The first is already summed up with its name. You start a quick game alone or with your friends and play 4 against 4. The second consists of five tournaments of three games to win to unlock a sixth competition. It is possible to fold it in less than two hours. The club strikers will allow you to create your club and go compete with opponents online.
Just score goals with Mario and the others, exit the rules of classic football, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football remains a game purely made for competition and cooperation. It is therefore ideal for parties with several people. The only problem: its limited content, but the DLCs will undoubtedly arrive. It is available from €59.99.
Kirby and the Forgotten World
After Mario Smash Football, we find another Nintendo icon. The Japanese firm intends to raise Kirby to the same level as Mario. In this game, the little pink ball finds itself this time with 3D and a semi-open world. The Forgotten World looks like ours, but in ruins.
The game itself brings freshness and color with Kirby and his transmorphing abilities. The latter will allow our cute character to transform into various objects to explore the levels. This skill will accompany Kirby’s other talents, that of suction and throwing ice and fire.
Kirby and the Forgotten World surprises with its new gameplay and level design. Available at €59.99, the game offers a game of adventure and leisurely exploration.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
TMNT or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a license that rocked the childhood of several generations. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge takes on the spirit of old-school beat ’em ups. We find Leo and his brothers beating waves of bad guys for 16 levels.
This opus gives us the opportunity to embody not only the four ninja turtles, namely Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphaël, but also three more characters. They are the reporter April, Casey Jones and Master Splinter. Playable by up to six players at the same time, we traverse levels and defeat bosses cooperatively.
Quality graphics, combos to achieve in a fluid gameplay, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is a good way to let off steam without worrying about the narration. Take down gangs in Bebop and Shredder as well as bosses with his buddies for $29.99.
Pokemon Legends Arceus
It’s hard to miss the Pokemon license when we talk about Nintendo. The Legends Arceus brings great novelty to the saga. This time we explore the open world Pokemon world. This has never been seen since the beginnings of the franchise. We discover this world with the monsters released into the wild.
Among the novelties of the system, it is now possible to catch a Pokemon without having to fight. You can indeed hide in the bushes and throw the Pokeball without being detected. 3D graphics in the open world completely change the perception and immersion in the game.
To embark on a solo adventure with a good narration, Pokemon Legends Arceus is a very good title. The RPG aspect where you evolve your little pocket monsters will keep you busy for a while. The game is available for €59.99.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles
The manga as well as the anime Demon Slayer was a hit in France. Fans and gamers alike can reunite with the Demon Slayers in a dynamic and vibrant combat game. The title picks up the events of the anime in the story mode. The latter ends on the Infinity Train arc. It will take you about eight hours in all.
The voices of the cast (in Japanese and English) of the anime will interpret the characters, the multiplayer mode offers duel sessions for lovers of fighting games with easy handling. The versus mode in 2 against 2 allows you to switch between the main character and the support.
Although we would have liked a four-player 2 vs 2, with flaws that could be improved upon, Demon Slayer: The Hikonami Chronicles is the last game adapted from a manga worthy of making our list for the holidays. The game is available from €40.99.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Latest Track Pass
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is part of what we can call a multiplayer game par excellence. A well-known title, Mario Kart launches you into wild races aboard modified karts. All means are good to win. You can throw items like shells, bomb, banana peel and many more to hinder your opponent.
The Deluxe version offers no less than 41 playable characters and 48 circuits to navigate. It therefore includes all the expansions of the game with the remastered tracks. With the new circuit passes, the title will be even more extensive. Six waves of passes will be released with eight tracks each. The first was already released in March 2022 with the Coupe Turbo Dorée. This €24.99 pass is a way to rekindle the flames of the turbos for Mario Kart 8.
We have compiled this list taking into account conviviality, but also fun and entertainment during the holidays. But the Switch console obviously has other interesting games.
