For this Daily of Wednesday May 18, we have Skyrim which is getting a makeover under the Unreal Engine 5, GTA 6 which will not be on our screens before 2026 and the animated Chainsaw Man which will soon land with us. The Daily, let’s go!
Skyrim has never looked so good!
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most popular games of all time. The fifth episode of The Elder Scrolls series was released on November 11, 2011 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and quickly established itself as a real juggernaut, thanks in particular to its world and the enormous feeling of freedom offered to players. . The game has marked the media so much that it has known 3 generations of different consoles, had a port on Switch as well as a VR version. Christian Gomm, an environment artist working within the Myrkur Games studio, recreated the village of Riverwood, the first stage of the adventure, where the player lands after escaping the Imperials and the Alduin assault. The result is amazing! Regarding The Elder Scrolls 6, the game will not be developed under the Unreal Engine 5, but under a revised version of the Creation Engine 2 which has been at work since 2006 with Oblivion.
Bad news for GTA 6
Take Two, the parent company of Rockstar, recently unveiled its financial results. GTA 6, the studio’s most anticipated game, is not mentioned in the balance sheet, despite a roadmap presenting the games that will be released until 2025. In the meantime, the firm is still counting on Grand Theft Auto V to fill the boxes. The game landed in 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360, then on PS4 and Xbox One, then on PC, and finally on PS5 and Xbox Series. As with Skyrim, the title has gone through three generations of consoles. Despite the bad eye of the players on the latest versions, it is clear that the PS5 and Xbox Series versions are a great success. GTA 5 has sold over 165 million copies worldwide. The game generated more than a billion dollars in revenue, making GTA 5 the most profitable cultural product, in terms of temporality, of all time, quite simply. Hopefully, all that money will be funneled back into the development of GTA 6 to deliver an even better game than its predecessor.
The adaptation of Chainsaw Man soon with us!
Chainsaw Man is one of the big hits of this beginning of the decade. Started in 2018 in Weekly Shōnen Jump, the story takes place in a world where demons are born from the fear of men. The more a demon arouses fear, the more powerful it is. To fight against this new threat, humanity has organized itself and hunters devote their existence to fighting these evil creatures. We follow the adventures of Denji, a Devil Hunter who will merge in spite of himself with Pochita, his dog-demon-chainsaw. He becomes much more powerful and is recruited by the government to hunt down the most powerful demons. The work is finished and consists of 11 volumes. An animated adaptation has been made official and we know that it will be available from us this year on Crunchyroll! MAPPA (Demon Slayer) is in charge of the production, but no date has yet been revealed. Be careful, this work is clearly not to be put in everyone’s hands because of its violence.
