Colossal figures compared to the films released this Wednesday: Our Lady Burns takes second place in the ranking with 41,089 admissions, and So On Danse (with Michèle Laroque) completes the podium with 21,997 admissions.

And Jujutsu Kaisen 0 also takes first place in the cinema ahead of its competitors since the 110,000 admissions made constitute a larger number than Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia gathered having made respectively 58,500 and 43,000 admissions on their first day of operation. As a reminder, this is about the film The Infinity Train for Demon Slayer (biggest film in Japan, ahead of Chihiro) which acts as a sequel to season 1 and was released in France in May 2021. Concerning My Hero Academia, it is the third film not canon (i.e. independent of the original story) titled World Heroes Mission which was released in early 2022.

The race is on

Obviously, it would not be a question of drawing hasty conclusions on the preferences of French. As a reminder, these are only figures taken from the results of the preview and the first day of operation: Demon Slayer had generated more than 500,000 entries two weeks after its release. The future will therefore tell us if the craze for Jujutsu Kaisen is greater than Demon Slayer in France. In any case, it is not the preview sessions that will say the opposite: the 8:30 p.m. session on Sunday 13 was so chaotic that it saw the Grand Rex govern and condemn such excesses.

In any case, this enthusiasm for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 can be justified: the world of manga and anime are exploding in France, with not only One Piece but also this trinity mentioned above. In addition to that, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 does not require having read or seen the mangas/episodes of this same universe and is aimed at fans of the universe as well as neophytes wanting to set foot in the world of animation.
