Netflix recently unveiled the schedule for its upcoming releases in the anime category. Between the long-awaited new seasons and the arrival of new programs in the catalog, we risk eating Gucci: here’s what the next few weeks have in store for otaku.
Netflix has positioned itself as the traditional platform that offers a very varied anime catalog, with goatesque titles such as Hunter x Hunter, SNK, naruto, Demon Slayer, Fullmetal Alchemist… We stop there, but the list could go on. The streaming giant has also embarked on the production of its own anime, including Altered Carbon: ResleevedWhere Cyberpunk: Edge Runners. By making the genre more accessible to everyone, Netflix has succeeded in democratizing it and allowing many people to discover this universe. Aware that there is a strong expectation with regard to anime, the platform that makes TUDUM therefore tries to update its catalog as much as possible. Here are some of the upcoming releases announced.
Parasite: La Maxime, from November 30
From Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga of the same name, Parasite: The Maxim was created by production company Madhouse in 2014. For those unfamiliar with the anime, it tells the story of young Shin’ichi who finds himself battling parasites that have invaded Earth, an invasion that puts endangering the human species. A threat that Shin’ichi Izumi will have to face, when he himself has been contaminated by Migi, a parasite, which has taken possession of his right arm.
Berserk (1997), from December 1
The announcement of his arrival on Netflix ignited Twitter a few days ago. In the Seinen genre, Berserk is part of master class, from the manga of Kentaro Miura. It’s the original 1997 anime adaptation that will hit Netflix on December 1st. You can therefore (re)immerse yourself in the adventures of Guts, a solitary mercenary warrior determined to be the sole master of his destiny, accompanied by his Dragonslayer. However, he is beaten in a fight by Griffith, the leader of the Band of the Falcon, and therefore finds himself having to integrate him.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone ocean, from December 1st
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure features members of the same family all nicknamed in the same way: “Jojo”. The anime is taken from the manga of the same name by Hirohiko Araki, which began to be published in 1986. Episodes 25 to 38 will be released soon on Netflix, that is to say the end of part 6. This one highlights Jolyne, a female Jojo, who was sent to prison for a murder she did not commit. When she pricks herself with a pendant that her father, Jôtarô, sent her, Jolyne develops a Stand that she will call Stone Free. In the last episodes available, the heroine decides that it is time to try once again to escape from Green Dolphin, the prison in which she is serving her sentence.
Maniac by Junji Ito: Macabre Anthology, from January 19, 2023
“A terrifying new artwork for Junji Ito, Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre!” This is how Netflix announced the upcoming arrival of this new anime on its platform, called Maniac by Junji Ito: Macabre Anthology in VF, before specifying: “Four other Junji Ito classics will join the tales: Ice Cream Truck, Tomb Town, Library Vision and Headless Statue.“
The poster thus shared on Twitter is already chilling. We know very little about this anime, except that it is classified in the horror genre, adapted from the work of the mangaka who is also considered a master of horror. And that these are 20 stories on the theme of madness that will be adapted into anime, among which we will find in particular Hanging Balloons, The Intruder, The Room with Quadruple Doors. The release date of Maniac by Junji Ito: Macabre Anthology is set for January 19, 2023 on Netflix. The anime will therefore not be available for your Halloween party, but it’s never too late for some chills…
Valkyrie Apocalypse, season 2 in early 2023
anime Valkyrie Apocalypse is a Netflix original production. Every thousand years, the gods meet in Valhalla to decide the fate of mankind. Will they let them live another thousand years? While the extinction of the human species is almost recorded, the Valkyrie Brunehilde intervenes and submits the idea of combat to the death, opposing 13 gods to 13 powerful humans. If humanity manages to win at least seven battles, it will be spared. Season 1 of Valkyrie Apocalypse saw opposing:
- Lü Bu, Han dynasty warlord against Thor, the norse god
- Adam, the father of mankind against Zeus, the god of gods
- Kojiro Sasaki, the universe’s biggest loser against Poseidon, the god of the seas. The first fight won by a human.
Season 2 will therefore start with the fourth fight of the Ragnarök tournament, in which we will notably see Jack the Ripper face Hercules, then we will also meet Buddha, or even Shiva… Mortal combat will soon resume on Netflix!
Detective Conan: Criminal Apprentice, coming soon
The anime is from Kanba Mayuko’s manga series. It is a spin-off of the famous Detective Conan, where the hero seeks to flush out the criminals who drugged him and made him shrink. In Detective Conan: Criminal Apprentice, we follow the story of an ordinary criminal who settles in the city of Beika, the capital of crime. A new start not necessarily easy for this apprentice criminal all dressed in black tights, whose objective is to kill a certain man. For all those who appreciate the universe of Detective Conan, you will have here the opportunity to find this universe from a new point of view. To be found soon in the Netflix catalog !
All this is just a preview of the next anime and new seasons that will be released on the streaming platform, Netflix having notably announced season 2 of Vinland Saga. Here is his special anime schedule for the coming months:
While waiting for the actual arrival of all these anime on Netflix, do not waste a minute to watch the essential titles already available on the platform. For example, we strongly recommend Demon Slayer !
