Tanjiro’s Quest Will Continue With Demon Slayer Season 3

The news had long been rumored. But unsurprisingly, the third season of the anime has been formalized and we already know what awaits our heroes.

On February 13, fans of Demon Slayer were able to discover the grand finale of season 2. As a reminder, it directly follows the film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Infinity Train. The wives of Tengen, the Pillar of Sound, have mysteriously disappeared while investigating the presence of demons on the streets of Yoshiwara District. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke go there alongside Tengen to clear things up.

With the end of the season fast approaching, rumors of a season 3 had been growing for several days. And it’s via the official franchise website Demon Slayer that the (good) news has fallen: the anime will be entitled to an additional season. Title Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato Hen, this future burst of episodes should cover the narrative arc of the blacksmiths, and emblematic characters of the license should therefore appear. The opportunity for followers to find the pillars of love, Mitsuri Kanroji, and mists, Muichiro Tokito.

The studio Ufotable will once again oversee the production of this new season. Barring a huge surprise, the same technical team, also including the voice actors, should be back. Once again, Haruo Sotozaki will be in charge of directing, while Akira Matsushima will oversee character design and also serve as chief animation director. Following the announcement of season 3, the production house Aniplex formalized the sequel with a first poster and a video of a few seconds giving an overview of the future protagonists.

A season 3 which should be desired for a little while

Comprising 28 chapters, two less than that of the Pleasure Districtthe narrative arc of Blacksmiths Village should lead to a season 3 as long as the one that just ended. No release date has yet been announced, but patience may be required. The film The Infinity Train had first aired in Japan a year and a half before the release of the second season. Based on a similar timeline for Season 3, it might not arrive until the second half of 2023.

Pre-published since 2016 in the magazine Shuukan Shounen Jump in Japan and since 2017 in France with Panini Manga, Demon Slayer has 23 volumes. Completed in December 2020, Koyoharu Gotoge’s work is one of the best-selling manga in 2021 in Japan. In 2020, sales even exceeded 330 million euros in revenue, a figure which nevertheless amounted to 75 million in 2019. In addition, Demon Slayer has mostly been the most viewed anime in Japan over the past year.
