Jujutsu Kaisen as well as Demon Slayer
This week marked the release of two highly anticipated films. The animated adaptation of Tokyo School of Exorcism and prequel to the phenomenon manga Jujutsu Kaisen appointed Jujutsu Kaisen 0 whose results in Japan are impressive: a feat synonymous with entry into the top 10 of the most lucrative animated films on the archipelago. The second is a French film directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud (Two brothers) entitled Our Lady Burnsa kind of documentary on the fire that struck the capital’s cathedral in April 2019. If we suspect that these feature films are not intended for the same audience, they have more or less mobilized a similar number of spectators and occupy third and second place respectively for the week. Slight advantage for Notre-Dame Brûle according to the box office results : it achieved 388,293 admissions, against 347,583 for Jujutsu Kaisen.
However, the animated film does not have to be ashamed of such a score: it is as many entries made as Demon Slayer: The Infinity Train. However, the latter was more than a hit in Japan, being the film that generated the most box office receipts in the Japanese archipelago and exceeded well-established entities such as Your Name Where Spirited away. In addition, it is placed just in front of the film Uncharted: the adaptation of the video game with Mark Whalberg and Tom Holland gathered 248,093 places for its fifth week of operation.
The dark knight king of the dark rooms
A fifth week of operation at 248,093 seats for Uncharted and which brings its total admissions to 2,263,536. A total which has just been exceeded by the colossal figures achieved by The Batman. On display since March 2, the film about the Dark Knight (played by Robert Pattinson) achieved 607,350 admissions over the past week… i.e. 2,408,082 seats accumulated since the film’s release. This is obviously less than the colossal figures that Spider-Man: No Way Home but such a total can quickly worry Nolan’s trilogy. To compare, The Dark Knight recorded 3,047,442 admissions in total in France, compared to 4,385,032 for The Dark Knight Rises. The fratricidal duel is engaged.
In addition, fans of comics and video games should get their money’s worth in the days to come. Morbius, a Marvel film about one of Spider-Man’s enemies, is expected in France on March 30. On this same date, it is the sequel to the film sonic titled… sonic 2 which will also be showing in French cinemas. The opportunity to see Tails and Knuckles, two inseparable protagonists of the fastest blue hedgehog on the planet.
