The series not to be missed in November

« The Wheel of Time », le prochain « Game of Thrones »

Another title contender again Game of Thrones ? Before its titanic series inspired by the universe of the Lord of the Rings, Amazon Prime Video unveils on November 19 The Wheel of Time, the adaptation of Robert Jordan’s fantasy saga. The Wheel of Time takes place in a world where magic is reserved for the Aes Sedai, only magicians capable of manipulating the “One Power”. We follow one of them, Moiraine, camped by Rosamund Pike, as she embarks on a dangerous adventure across the world with a group of young men and women following an attack by the forces of the Dark.

“Dopesick” recounts the opioid crisis in the United States

A miniseries inspired by a true story! Written by Danny Strong (Empire, Recount), directed by Barry Levinson (Rain Man) and produced by Michael Keaton, Dopesick, available November 12 on Disney +, is based on the bestseller Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America by American journalist Beth Macy. Led by Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Rosario Dawson and Michael Stuhlbarg, this miniseries looks back on the opiate crisis in the United States. From Big Pharma boardrooms to the plight of a Virginia mining community to the halls of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the series shows how pharmaceutical company Purdue Pharma found itself at the origin of a real health crisis, how people with chronic pain found themselves addicted to Oxycontin and the fight of the families of victims against the pharmaceutical lobbies. A Hollywood version of a crisis far from over, as digestible and brilliant as it gets, but still keeping an eye out for emotional truth.

“Sort Of”, the touching drama about a non-binary nanny

Transgender and non-binary characters are more and more numerous in series, but are rarely at the center of them. The canadian series Sort Of, created and carried by Bilal Baig, focuses on the adventures of Sabi, a non-binary person of Pakistani descent, who works in an LGBTQ + bar at night and babysits a wealthy family by day. Sabi is looking for meaning in her existence and thinks she has found it when 7ven offers her to move to Berlin, the quintessential queer capital. Unfortunately, the mother of the children Sabi takes care of is the victim of a terrible accident… A drama as touching as it is hilarious to be discovered in full on 6play on November 8!

“Gossip Girl” for a new trip to the Upper East Side

Nine years after the blog crash, Gossip Girl is back on the Upper East Side! Developed by showrunner Joshua Safran, screenwriter and executive producer of the original series, this new release, available November 23 on Warner TV, features a whole new cast of privileged young people who are more inclusive, but it could be that Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen are mentioned … or even make a cameo. Kristen Bell is back in the role of the narrator, who balances all the gossip of her little comrades on social networks (and no longer on a blog, we are in 2021!) Glam and a lot of XOXO in perspective!

“Christmas Flow”, a romantic Christmas comedy

A romantic Christmas comedy, made in France! The pitch of the series Christmas Flow, available on November 17 has all of a barley sugar: “When a rapper and a journalist who are opposites meet… The magic of Christmas operates. »This series co-written by Henri Debeurme (Noah), Victor Rodenbach (Ten percent) and author Marianne Levy (The Curse of the Comfort Zone) and directed by Nadège Loiseau (The little tenant) features the musician Tayc in the role of Marcus, a tongue-in-cheek rapper struggling with a controversy against a background of sexist remarks and Shirine Boutella (Papicha, Lupin) in the shoes of a journalist with a strong character. A duo assisted by Camille Lou, Marion Seclin, Aloïse Sauvage and Walid Ben Mabrouk. A program to watch under a cozy blanket with a good tea and a piece of cheese-cake!
