JoJo, a manga that has become cult worldwide
Long remained a popular hit in Japanese, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is now one of the best-known manga in the world. An exhibition offered in particular thanks to the animated adaptation of the 2010s by David Productions which made it possible to discover the work of Hirohiko Araki to all. However, it isone of the oldest manga still being published today, since the first chapter was published in 1986 in the famous Weekly Shonen Jump. If this name means nothing to you, this is the magazine that has hosted a large number of very famous Japanese comics today such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Ken the Survivor, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen. .. Beyond manga and anime, Hirohiko Araki’s work is still talked about today by its video game adaptation.
But since 2005, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is no longer published in Weekly Shonen Jump, but in Ultra Jump, a monthly magazine, which leaves more time for its author to produce chapters. If you read the work, you are obviously aware, but for others, know that the manga is divided into several parts in which we follow (most of the time) a member of the Joestar family. Thanks to this way of organizing his work, Araki gives himself the opportunity to easily change the setting and atmosphere from one part to another. Whereas the anime adaptation available on Netflix just completed part six, the manga concluded part eight in the summer of 2021, and a ninth part was announced soon after.
The end of Hirohiko Araki’s work?
The ninth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will therefore be titled JOJOLands and will feature a new JoJo whose name we don’t yet know, but whose face we finally got to see. The latter remains faithful to the style of Araki, with a main character with androgynous features who has the particularity of wearing a braid on the right side of the face, with a star as a barrette, which refers to the Joestar. If it would have been difficult at first to say whether it is a man or a woman, the synopsis allows us to see more clearly. We therefore learn that JOJOLands should tell us “the story of a boy who becomes rich on subtropical islands”. A frame never seen in the manga and which still holds plenty of mysteries and surprises.
“It’s the story of a boy who becomes rich on subtropical islands.”
I hope you can’t wait, don’t hesitate to share your best theories or fan-art with us! 🔥

In addition to this sketch, we also take advantage of an illustration in which we observe a rabbit which sports the face of the main character with the writing “THE JOJO”. A clue about the power of the protagonist? Nothing is less sure. In any case, we should have answers quickly on JOJOLands whose publication will begin on February 17, still in the pages of Ultra Jump. Given the longevity of the work, but also the age of its author (62), one wonders if this ninth part would not be the last. With the title JOJOLands, the figure of the JoJo seems more central to the plot than ever, as a kind of reflection on the series as a whole. We just have to wait and see what surprise Hirohiko Araki has in store for us.
