Kimetsu No Yaiba, better known as Demon Slayer is one of the most beloved anime and manga today, it has managed to touch the hearts of many of its fans around the world. This may be thanks to its amazing story and unique characters that add the touch of charm to the anime.
Something that seems quite striking to us is that Kyojuro Rengoku was the first Hashira we saw in action in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (not taking Tomioka into account), in the Mugen Train Arc, where he fought against Akaza, the third upper demon moon and one of the strongest demons under Muzan Kibutsuji.
The tragic results of that fight bring to light a curious fact: his father was much more powerful than him. Although Kyojuro followed in the footsteps of his father, Shinjuro Rengoku, he never learned anything from him. In fact, both his breathing technique and his fighting ability were the result of autonomous learning, reading the books in the family library, and personal practice.
But why did his father Shinjuro Rengoku, being so powerful, abandon him to his fate as a demon hunter? The main answer to this question from Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) is: Family. Shinjuro is one of the strongest demon slayers in history. Due to his dominant breathing technique, he was considered an exceptional swordsman in his days as Hashira.
However, one fated day after the death of his beloved wife, Ruka Rengoku, Shinjuro parted ways with the world he knew, abandoning the vow he made as a demon slayer. He cultivated both hatred and agony and started drinking while doing his duties, even though he was the person who swore to protect others, his wife and family, from the demons and was determined enough to give. his life in the process if he got to that point.
Shinjuro ceased to be a Hashira, and before he retired, he shattered the Generational Record of the Flame Hashira, which had been passed down from generation to generation in the Rengoku family. Deep down, somewhere, Shinjuro really cares about his two sons and wanted to take them away from the dangerous world of demon slayers. This is seen in the first episode of the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) Red District arc, after receiving Kyojuro’s last words, where we see him cry.
