Ultraman is a Japanese superhero that spawned decades of iterations and additions to the Ultraman universe. He is the archetype of many tokusatsu films of the Kyodai Hero genre. On April 14, 2022, Netflix will release the second season of Ultraman, giving international audiences another chance to immerse themselves in the franchise.
Tokusatsu is a term used in Japan to describe live-action science fiction, fantasy, or horror films or television series that make extensive use of special effects. The Godzilla franchise and Power Rangers are two of the best examples of this genre.
The Ultraman Multiverse, in which the Ultra series takes place, spans decades of stories, monsters, and Ultramen from the first tokusatsu television series. Netflix’s Ultraman, one of the more recent iterations of the character, differs from the original and many others in the Ultraman line. She prefers CGI animation to live action.

The Ultraman season 2 trailer was recently released ahead of the series premiere. In this fiery sequence, the old and the new collide: not only do we see the return of Ultraman, but we also see a gathering of six Ultramen, in a nod to the crossover event “Ultra 6 Brothers ”.

Who is part of the Ultraman season 2 cast?
The Japanese voice actors are led by Ryohei Kimura. Takuya Eguchi (Haikyuu!, Kuroko no Basket) joins Kimura (The Ambition of Oda Nobuna). Megumi Han, who played Gon in Hunter x Hunter, and Hiroaki Hirata, who played Sanji in One Piece and Klein in Sword Art Online, are part of the cast.
The series has the particularity of using some leading English actors, which will delight fans of the English dubbing. For example, Josh Hutcherson plays new Ultraman Shinjiro Hayata, who is best known for his roles in Bridge to Terabithia and The Hunger Games. Shinjiro’s father, the original Ultraman Shin Hayata, is played by American actor Fred Tatasciore, while Dan Moroboshi is played by Liam O’Brien, best known for playing Gaara in Naruto, Captain Jushiro Ukitake in Bleach and Lloyd in Code Geass.
