What is Jujutsu Kaisen?
Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga by Gege Akutami. It begins to be prepublished in the Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2018. This is after the success of the one-shot (a term used to designate works of barely a few chapters) Jujutsu Kaisen 0 that the author undertakes the creation of JJK : a manga in the same universe, with common characters but made to last over time. The main story revolves around Ryuji Itadori: a high school student almost like any other, except that he has a strength well above average. In a contemporary Japan where demonic creatures are born from negative human emotions, he eats an evil finger to save one of his comrades: it is from this moment that Ryuji is condemned.
He has just swallowed one of the twenty fingers of the demon king Sakuna. He is then the subject of an ultimatum from the Tokyo exorcism school: either he helps them to overcome Sakuna by eating the other 19 fingers (which involves a risk for his life), either she executes it. At the foot of the wall, Itadori accepts without hesitating too much and finds himself climbing the different levels to be the best exorcist. A choice of life that is not likely to be easy since cohabiting with the demon king has its disadvantages, especially since all the exorcists are not on his side.
What is the release date of the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 series in France?
A synopsis and a story that seem to convince the Japanese by being the best-selling manga in 2021 and 2022 on the archipelago: it is respectively followed by Demon Slayer and tokyo revenge, which also received an anime adaptation. A success probably driven by its television adaptation in 24 episodes produced by MAPPA, released between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. After months without news, the television adaptation will start again for a season 2 from July this year. It is via a teaser (to be viewed at the top of this article) that the production house Toho Animation announced the news in September of the year 2022. No specific release date has yet been revealed.

The first season (24 episodes in total) of Jujutsu Kaisen can be watched in full on Crunchyroll. However, regarding the second season, no streaming platform has yet announced that it will broadcast the sequel to Itadori’s adventures. If Crunchyroll seems once again well placed to welcome it, we are never safe from surprises (see tokyo revenge first broadcast on Crunchyroll but whose second season, broadcast from January 09 in simulcast, is available on Disney+). We will therefore wait for an official press release (which should arrive in the coming months) before securing the platform to watch this second season of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2: Release date, story … We take stock of the anime
Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen is the direct sequel to the first season of the TV adaptation. If there was a movie called Jujutsu Kaisen 0 released in cinemas recently, it has no impact on the main plot of the work. Indeed, the feature film is the adaptation of one shot which served as a preamble to Jujutsu Kaisen. It is therefore recommended to see it to learn more about the universe and its characters but in no way engages the understanding of the main work.
The first season covers the first 63 chapters of the manga (volume 8). The second season, of which we do not yet know the total number of episodes, should therefore resume from chapter n°64. If it includes only twelve episodes, then about thirty chapters should be repeated: the narrative arcs then correspond to the past of Satoru Gojo and the beginning of that of Shibuya (beginning of volume 11). In the event that 24 episodes are ordered, the Shibuya narrative arc would be almost covered in its entirety (end of volume 14). Finally, if they decide to cover it in its entirety for the small screen, it is until volume 16 that the television adaptation will go.

Who is working on the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen?
For the moment, no information has been revealed concerning the cast or the directors behind this second season of Jujutsu Kaisen : we will probably have to wait for the next few months with the release of a new trailer to learn more. However, we already know that some dubbers resume their role. This is particularly the case of Junya Enoki (tokyo revenge, Demon Slayer, Beastars or the attack of the Titans) who lends his voice to the main character while the interpreter of Satoru Gojo will always be Yuichi Nakamura (Hawks in My Hero Academia notably).
If we know that Gege Akutami should supervise the project of this second season adapted by MAPPA (recently behind Vinland Saga, the attack of the Titans or chain saw man), no name was given for the director or assistant director. Regarding the first season, it was Seong-Hu Park and Yui Umemoto who were in charge: affiliated with MAPPAthere is still a good chance to see them behind the project even if we will wait for an official confirmation.

As mentioned above, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is an excellent gateway for anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge or enter gently into the universe created by Gege Akutami. Manga fans who have already seen season 1 can already find out what is happening in the upcoming season 2 by reading the eleven volumes (8 to 18) published in France. On the cross-media side, the game Phantom Parade is available but only in Japan : it displays a way of playing similar to the video game adaptations of the genre with turn-based combat and characters to collect.
Besides, Jujutsu Kaisen season 1 wins different prizes against Demon Slayer during the Crunchyroll Anime Awards (the equivalent of the Game Awards but for anime) including that of best anime of the year.
