For two years, MAPPA rose to the top of Japan’s top animation studios. Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man are among the few projects that have allowed the studio to prove its expertise. On the fan side, the opinions are unanimous: MAPPA knows how to do an excellent job. Additionally, the news that MAPPA will have to host the third season of One Punch Man will put the studio at the center of the biggest projects of 2023.
MAPPA on the biggest anime of the moment
MAPPA did not come to do extras. The recent animation of Chainsaw Man clearly proves this. For next year, the studio will be in charge of animating highly anticipated series such as season two of Jujutsu Kaisen, Vinland Saga, the last part of the final season of Attack on Titan and the first season of Jigokuraku: Hell’s Paradise. An animated film is even planned. This is “Alice And Therese’s Illusion Factory”. But that’s not all !
A rumor claims that the Japanese studio has been chosen to work on season three of One Punch Man. For the moment nothing has been confirmed by MAPPA. If so, this would be the third time One Punch Man has changed animation studios. Furthermore, it must be admitted that all these projects risk increasing the workload within MAPPA, which has already caused controversy on several occasions. It is very likely that the studio will be called upon to hire freelancers to meet the deadlines. Check out some reactions from social media:

More than ten years in the service of animation
MAPPA was created in 2011, thanks to Masao Maruyama. Aged 70, the man takes the initiative to retire, not to rest, but rather to create his own animation studio. This is how the Maruyama Animation Produce Project Association or MAPPA was created. Today the studio has become a benchmark in the industry, and continues to grow in popularity. We owe him anime such as Gambling School, Zombie Land Saga, Banana Fish, The God of High School or even Dorohedoro.
