Gege Akutami’s manga, Jujutsu Kaisen celebrates its fourth anniversary. On the occasion of the anniversary celebration of the shonen franchise, a new artwork had been released. A few days later, said illustration is now on the cover of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.
But it’s not over yet. We must add to this list the trailer that was published by the Shonen Jump.
A rather creepy trailer
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Fourth Anniversary Trailer Highlights 19 Releaseand volume of the manga. The volume in question was released earlier this month. Specifically, the volume was released on April 4 in Japan and matches the Slaughtering Games arc. The events of this arc follow those of the Shibuya Incident arc.
For those unfamiliar with the manga, the arcs discussed have yet to be adapted into the anime series. The content of the trailer reveals scenes from said arc and three characters are clearly highlighted. Yuji Itadori, the main character, is accompanied by Megumi Fushiguro and Yuta Okkotsu.
To save Satoru Gojo, and put Suguru Geto out of harm’s way, they have no choice but to take part in the slaughter games, organized by Geto himself. For now, Yuji and Megumi are in another colony. Separated along the way, they each cross paths with other exorcists. We can cite characters like Reggie Star or Hiroshi Higuruma.
The History of the Jujutsu Kaisen Franchise
It was in March 2018 that the first chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen was published in Shonen Jump. However, it is good to specify that the first story of the work of Gege Akutami was released much earlier. We must therefore go back a year to find traces of the manga which at the time was entitled “Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School”.
In this first story, Gege Akutami laid the foundations for the bloody world of plague-fighting exorcists. Characters like Satoru Gojo and Yuta Okkotsu had just been introduced to manga readers. It wasn’t until later that Yuji Itadori along with other exorcists were introduced to the mangaka’s story in 2018.
It was then that the moment was renamed Jujutsu Kaisen and the rest of the story is known to all. The franchise already has an anime adaptation, as well as an animated film called Jujutsu Kaisen 0. In addition to these examples, we can add to the franchise’s resume several awards for the manga, the animated series and the animated film. .
