It was on the occasion of the famous annual event, the Jump Festa, that the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, covering the prequel to the manga, unveiled a little more with a new trailer.

In early December, the site’s annual ranking of manga sales in Japan Oricon is published. We learned in particular that the manga by Gege Akutami, published in France by Ki-oon, was the best-selling manga of 2021. Indeed, the statistics site counted not less than 30.9 million copies of Jujutsu Kaisen in circulation in Japan. It was therefore quite logical that there were announcements on the occasion of the Jump Festa of this year. While the prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, will be released in Japanese cinemas on December 24 (in 5 days), it is a final trailer that has been unveiled.

A manga at the top of dark fantasy

Published in Japan since 2018 and in France since early 2020, Jujutsu Kaisen is growing in popularity. Pre-published in Japan in the magazine of Weekly Shōnen Jump, simultaneous French translation has recently been available on the application MangaPlus, allowing fans to follow the story chapter after chapter for free and legally. In France, 12 volumes have already been published, against 17 in Japan. Volume 13 will also be available both in a classic version and a collector’s version. For those who do not have the reference, a collector for volume 13 is a nod to urban legends and to the mystical powers attributed, in Western culture, to this number which is considered to be bad luck.

Interestingly, a prequel to Jujutsu Kaisen has been published. And it is precisely this prequel that the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will cover. The fans will therefore not see the current first year students in the film but will discover, if they have not read the manga, the year before the manga and therefore the adventures of the previous first years, namely Panda, Maki, Toge and above all, the one who is actually at the center of the story, Yuta. Indeed, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, actually addresses the story of Yuta, a young boy haunted by an overpowered spirit, that of Rika, who does not hesitate to kill to protect his friend. For now, no release date of the film in France has been announced, but there is no doubt that it should happen, the manga of Ki-oon being particularly popular.
