The new anime of August 2022

Gambling School: Twin

Ready to dive back into the sulphurous world of gambling? While waiting for the announcement of a season 3 for Gambling School (Kakegurui), it is his spin off Gambling School: Twin (Kakegurui Twin) which lands in anime on Netflix. Adapted from the manga scripted by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki, it takes place a year before the basic work. The story begins with the arrival of Mary Saotome, a brilliant student from the middle class, at Hyakkaou Private Academy. A school like no other: here, it doesn’t matter academic results or athletic prowess. The hierarchical system is based on gambling. Those who are in debt or who are bad payers find themselves at the bottom of the ladder and are treated like animals. The only privilege: that of being able to challenge anyone without being able to refuse, except the highest ranking, in order to have the opportunity to become a “normal” student again. An environment in which Mary Saotome will quickly adapt thanks to her cold blood and her ambition, discovering a sadistic personality and an addiction to games.

Like Gambling School, it’s the studio MAPPA (Yuri on Ice, Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan Final Season…) who is making the anime adaptation of this spin-off. In France, the manga is published by Éditions Soleil. 11 volumes have been published in France.
