Dr. Stone: continued success after two seasons

Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi’s work was first published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. But, it is in 2019 that it will make its appearance in anime. After a first season quickly validated, season 2 logically followed at the beginning of 2021. Even if the production had suggested that the second season would have a sequel, nothing had leaked on its date. So it was a surprise for fans to see the trailer announcing season 3 for 2023.

A long waiting period

We will have to wait until 2023 to find Senku and his Kingdom of Science on our screens. This period may seem excessively long, but it is only logical. Indeed, if we count the difference between the first two seasons (ie two years), it is not surprising that the production plans season 3 for 2023. On the other hand, for the fans, the time will be long.

However, the production team has planned to keep them waiting by airing a special episode during the summer of 2022. This episode will be dedicated to the character of Ryusui Nanami, the next major addition to Senku’s Science Realm. This special episode will be named Dr. Stone: Ryusui. It will serve as a relay between season 2 and season 3. Be aware that the character of Ryusui is essential following the anime. There will be an important role, especially when Senku and his Kingdom want to explore unoccupied lands. For now, not much is known about the duration of this special episode. As for the production of the special episode, it returns to TMS Entertainment which has already worked on the first two seasons. In addition, Ryota Suzuki will be Ryusui’s mouthpiece.
