Jujutsu Creator Kaisen Admits Sneaking Into Anime Movie

Jujutsu Kaisen is back this week, and all eyes are on Megumi in light of her latest release. Of course, the anime has a different person in mind with Yuta, and creator Gege Akutami plays wrestling with both stars. And now the artist has admitted to seeing Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in theaters in a sneaky way.

The update comes from Akutami itself as latest issue of Saut shonen include a note from him. This is where he celebrated the film’s debut, and Akutami managed to watch it with other fans without them knowing.

“The movie is in theaters now,” he said. “I secretly went to watch it with the opening comments on day one.”

Obviously Akutami was sneaky seeing this movie with fans, but it wasn’t as risky as other similar stunts. Japan is notoriously protective when it comes to privacy, and manga artists are welcome if not encouraged to keep their faces a secret. This means that not many people know what Akutami looks like, so he can sneak into a theater if necessary.

Of course, we don’t know when Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will debut in the United States. The movie didn’t land many international releases, but the manga is another story. Viz Media is releasing the prequel in English, and you can read its full synopsis below if you’re about to pick it up:

“In a world where cursed spirits prey on unsuspecting humans, fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryomen Sukuna have been lost and scattered. If a demon consumes Sukuna’s body parts, the power it gains could destroy the world as we know it. Fortunately, there is a mysterious school of Jujutsu Sorcerers who exist to protect the precarious existence of the living from the supernatural!

Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who suffers from a serious problem – his childhood friend Rika has turned into a curse and won’t leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary curse, her plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where young exorcists learn to fight curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but will he be able to learn enough in time to face the curse that haunts him?
