Jujutsu Kaisenit’s The creator of the series explained to the fans why the manga suddenly had to take a break before the new chapter of the series! The Culling Game arc has reached a new phase of the fights within the Sendai Colony as Yuta Okkotsu takes on two powerful opponents, but fans were surprised to see that there was an extra wait needed before the arrival of the Culling Game. chapter 178 of the series. Originally slated to release last week, the chapter’s release was delayed as Shueisha’s editors revealed that the series creator felt too ill to meet the new chapter’s deadline on time.
Fans were hoping this wasn’t the kind of sudden delay series creator Gege Akutami had done before (with that previous hiatus of over a month before returning with new chapters), and while creator returned with Chapter 178 from the last issue of Shonen Jump in Japan, Akutami’s explanation and apology to fans for the delay is certainly a bit less hopeful than before. Noting in the author’s official comments next to the new chapter (as translated by Viz Media), Akutami said, “I’m really sorry for the last week. I will work more efficiently. And now I’ve been hit with hay fever.”
Much like the creator’s previous hiatus, fans are more hopeful that Akutami’s health has returned to a manageable level rather than forcing new chapters into the series. As with any series, fans prefer each creator to take care of themselves before aggravating their health just for the next phase of the story. It seems that’s not the case here, as Akutami admits he has hay fever, but keep your fingers crossed that the creator’s health stays good as the weeks and months go by.
As for Chapter 178 of the series, it indeed takes Yuta’s combat to a whole new level as it is now clear that the current version of the fighter is much stronger than he ever was during the prequel series. But we’ll see that progress more as the Culling Game arc continues with each new chapter… however long that may take as long as Akutami’s health remains intact. But what do you think?
