Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will soon be making its way to the United States, and the film has been getting fans excited these days. With its premiere scheduled for the end of March, the team behind Jujutsu Kaisen talks about the hit movie and its biggest challenges. It’s not just the animation that challenges the film crew, after all. The characters themselves can be difficult to deal with, and now director Sunghoo Park opens up about the challenges of Geto’s relationship with Gojo.
The update comes from a recent chat manager Park Sunghoo did in Japan as Jujutsu Kaisen 0 extends its release abroad. This is where the host was asked how Gojo must have felt when he found out about Geto’s role in the events of the film. After all, those who have read the prequel know that Geto is trying to kill Yuta Okkotsu to steal his Special Quality Curse, and Sunghoo said Gojo can only be disappointed with the ordeal.
“Gojo had to hope that Geto wouldn’t be the one attacking Okkotsu and others backstage. Then, when they end up in tech college, hope has been shattered and Geto being the mastermind becomes inevitable. Gojo worries again when Geto, the reason for his emotional hurt, appears in front of him. I think the humanity of Gojo is reflected in this series of events,” Sunghoo shared (via kaikaikitan).
Obviously, Gojo isn’t the type of person to let his personal feelings cloud his judgment, but Geto seems to be his exception. The manga has time and time again portrayed Geto as Gojo’s only best friend. It makes things even more complicated when Geto’s corpse is taken and used to puppet one of the most cursed villains known to the franchise. Even in death, Geto found ways to tug on Gojo’s heartstrings, but things went head to head in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. So if you haven’t watched it for yourself, you’ll want to catch the movie as soon as it hits theaters near you.
