If in 2021 several animes clearly stood out, Jujutsu Kaisen has emerged as the revelation of the year. Breathtaking fight scenes, intriguing characters, there is so much to say about Gege Akutami’s work that we will never end. Today, cursed weapon user Maki Zenin is honored by cosplayer and model Momo Tomomoto.
In addition, it is not one, but two cosplays made by the artist.
Le personnage de Maki Zenin
In the world of Jujutsu Kaizen, Maki Zenin is a character that stands out for several reasons. Unlike the other exorcists, Maki is unable to see plagues and cannot use occult energies, which is seen as an aberration for the prestigious Zenin clan. Although devoid of these attributes, Maki excels at wielding cursed weapons and does not have to be ashamed in the face of his comrades.
In the animated series, Maki appeared in a completely standard Jujutsu High uniform. She sports a ponytail and bangs and wears glasses. But her look is going to undergo a drastic change during the Shibuya Incident arc. She will face the S-class plague Jogo and come out seriously injured. As a result of this fight, Maki will wear his uniform with cropped sleeves, short hair. The detail that does not go unnoticed is the appearance of burn marks on his body.
The superb Tomomoto cosplays
The cosplayer posted two cosplays of the character of Jujutsu Kaisen on her Instagram account. The first image features a version of Maki in his early days in the manga and the animated series. Tomomoto’s second cosplay reveals a very different Maki after his fight against Jogo. The result is quite striking and the artist is not at his first attempt. She has many other anime character cosplays to her credit, such as Jolyne Cujoh, the new heroine of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and many more.
You can discover all the cosplays to his credit on his Instagram account. Maki Zenin didn’t take a vacation like Yuji Itadori in 2021. She returned to the screen in the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 which served as a prequel a year before Yuji came to the exorcist world. Between Maki’s version at the start of Jujutsu Kaisen and his version following the Shibuya incident arc, which one do you prefer ?
