Jujutsu Kaisen finally releases its novels in the United States

Jujutsu Kaisen has a grip on the manga fandom that just won’t stop. While the series is still updated weekly, creator Gege Akutami has endorsed spin-off titles to expand the franchise in new ways. Most recently, that expansion came through a pair of light novels, and Viz Media has confirmed that it will be bringing those stories to the United States soon.

Viz Media gave the big update today by sharing a slew of acquisitions with fans. This is where fans were told Jujutsu Kaisen is bringing two of its light novels to the United States. English translations will debut this fall, and the first release from Viz Media will be Summer of ashes, autumn of dust.

Now, if you are not aware of this light novel, it was released in May 2019. The novel was written by Ballad Kitaguni while Gege Akutami, the creator of the manga, came up with the idea. This novel follows Yuji after an incident at Satozakura High School. Containing five short stories, these stories explore Yuji’s emotions after the battle and Gojo’s observations of the boy.

As for the second light novel, Viz Media does not have a set release window. The book debuted in Japan in January 2020, and it is titled Thorny path to dawn. It focuses on Nobara after she’s scouted by a talent agency, but things go awry when a familiar face and a curse step in to steal the show. If the first light novel drops in the US this fall, fans will hope the second Jujutsu Kaisen book lands a print in early 2023.
