Jujutsu Kaisen Lands Another Major Award

Jujutsu Kaisen has won another major anime award! Gege Akutami’s original manga franchise has exploded into a whole new world of recognition and popularity among fans thanks to the successful launch of his TV anime. Concluding its run last year, it was then announced that the franchise would continue with a new feature film. This movie has had all sorts of success and it is also getting ready for its full release all over the world. Now the franchise is also scoring major wins across the board, both critically and commercially.

Sales of Akutami’s manga have increased by the hundreds due to the success of the anime and the movie, and Jujutsu Kaisen was so successful that it also received many appropriate awards and accolades across Japan. The series’ official Twitter account has announced that Jujutsu Kaisen’s TV series won the Anime of the Year award at the 2022 Tokyo Anime Award Festival. That’s a pretty huge accolade for the franchise, and it shows what a success she really has become!

As for the anime’s future, luckily it’s already been confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen will be back for a second season. Aiming for a 2023 release, there are currently few details on its production aside from confirmation that it will be produced by MAPPA again. In the meantime, fans can prepare for this new season by watching the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as it begins streaming in North America (and many other territories around the world) from March 18. The new movie will be available in English and Japanese audio, and Crunchyroll begins to describe Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as such:

“When they were children, Rika Orimoto was killed in a traffic accident in front of her close friend, Yuta Okkotsu. ‘It is a promise. When we both grow up, we’ll get married.’ Rika became an apparition, and Yuta yearned for his own death after suffering under his curse, but Jujutsu’s greatest wizard, Satoru Gojo, welcomed him to Jujutsu High. There, Yuta meets his classmates, Maki Zen’in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda, and finally finds his own resolve. “I want the confidence to say it’s good that I’m alive!” ‘While I’m at Jujutsu High, I will break Rika-chan’s curse.’”

The synopsis continues with, “Meanwhile, the vile curse user, Suguru Geto, who was expelled from school for slaughtering ordinary people, appears in front of Yuta and the others. ‘This coming December 24, we will perform the Hundred Demons Night Parade.’ As Geto advocates the creation of a paradise for jujutsu wizards, he unleashes a thousand curses on Shinjuku and Kyoto to exterminate all non-wizards. Will Yuta finally be able to stop Geto? And what will happen? to break Rika’s curse…?”
