Jujutsu Kaisen: Panda confronts Kashimo – and it goes wrong

Hajime Kashimo is one of the Culling Game players that Yuji and his allies distrusted from the start. They assumed that this player must be incredibly strong, considering he had at least a hundred points. The plan was for Hakari to fight them, since he is the strongest of the Tokyo Colony group. However, they had no idea that they would all be randomly divided as soon as they broke through the barrier.

Panda’s role in their plan was to find and negotiate with Hana Kurusu, the wizard who has wings and a halo, similar to an angel. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned and Panda found the terrifying Kashimo instead. Initially, Panda intended to impersonate a real panda to avoid fighting Kashimo. He might have succeeded if Kashimo hadn’t asked his Kogane if Panda was a Slaughter Game player. A totally one-sided fight ensues.

Kashimo and Sukuna

So far, Yuji and his allies have managed to defeat their respective opponents somehow, but Panda never stood a chance. He even tried to use his sister’s form – which fans had never seen before – rather than his brother’s gorilla form. It made no difference to Kashimo. Panda was unable to defend against his opponent, as their cursed energy is akin to an electric current. In other words, they are in a constant state of electrification. Additionally, Kashimo’s cursed energy allows him to use attacks that can’t miss, without needing to cast a Domain.

Interestingly, Kashimo is determined to find Sukuna and has been constantly questioning Panda about his whereabouts. Panda, who didn’t want to make Yuji a target, refused to reveal anything. Kashimo could feel he was hiding something. It’s unclear what Kashimo wants with Sukuna, but we can assume it’s a fight. Kashimo is a reincarnated wizard from the past, so it’s possible the two men knew each other, or even fought before.

The fight ends with Panda’s entire body, except for his head, completely destroyed. Luckily, Panda is still alive for now. This is possible because Panda had three cores: his brother, his sister and himself. Each of these nuclei was located in different places in his body. Panda’s core is in his head, so as long as his head isn’t destroyed, he can survive. The cores of his siblings are certainly destroyed, however.

Panda And Gorilla Crying

Most of Chapter 185 serves to show how Panda’s relationship with his siblings is. Although it’s presented as a flashback, in reality it happens in Panda’s innate realm, much like Sukuna and Yuji can meet in the former’s innate realm. His sister is in the shape of a triceratops, and she is very protective of him, even against their brother who is in the shape of a gorilla. Gorilla is the kind of brother who ignores and picks on his little brother, despite the latter’s eagerness to spend time with him.

We discover how much Gorilla cares for Panda when he learns that he and his sister can no longer stay with him. This is, of course, because their cores are destroyed in the real world. The siblings break down emotionally, with Gorilla mourning Panda as they are taken away, as he knows how much Panda needs them. This is when the chapter snaps back to reality and shows that Kashimo has destroyed Panda’s body. Kashimo still tries to get information about Sukuna, but Panda still refuses to reveal anything.

As Kashimo is about to finish off Panda, Hakari arrives on the scene in an epic fire of cursed energy. Kashimo is visibly surprised and excited by what is shaping up to be an exciting fight. Panda, meanwhile, is happy that his life could be spared at the very last minute. It will be interesting to see how the loss of his siblings changes him in the future.
