Jujutsu Kaisen Megumi Fushiguro fought her way through the Culling Game tournament in order to save her sister Tsumiki, but the series’ latest chapter brought her back into the spotlight with a rather mysterious update. Megumi and Yuji fought their way through the Tokyo 1 settlement in hopes of establishing a rule that would save Megumi’s sister, and previous chapters saw them bloodied and beaten quite badly. But for Megumi, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep his sister from getting into all this chaos if he can help her.
We haven’t seen much of Tsumiki outside of flashbacks and confirmation that she was forcibly awakened from her coma following the Shibuya incident, and Megumi is far from finding her in the current chapters as he’s been pretty roughed up after his fight with Reggie and continues to fight his way through the colony of Tokyo 1. But a new update of her finally brings her to the show as Megumi sees her telling him to backing down from murdering Remi after betraying him and trying to sell him to Reggie.
Chapter 173 of the series confirms that Megumi was able to land the final blow against Reggie, and thus earns her first notable victory of the tournament so far. It is revealed as he is stalking Remi as she tries to run away, but before her wolf shikigami bites her, Megumi sees her sister’s face telling her to back off. So he gives in and ends up fainting. While it could just be Megumi remembering how his sister always held him back from her inner rage, it could also be something else.
We know that Tsumiki has been granted some sort of cursed ability and will be forced into the Culling Game in a few days, but we haven’t seen what that ability is yet. It could be some kind of psychic ability that allowed him to connect with Megumi, and thus made her stop before killing someone else. Thanks to Higuruma, Tsumiki will not be in immediate danger of death, but it remains to be ensured that she will come out of the Culling Game alive. If she had some kind of great psychic ability, that might just end up being the edge they all need to take the next step.
But what do you think? Do you think it’s fair that Megumi fondly remembers her sister? What do you think his cursed ability is really going to be?
