An explosive new trailer lifts the veil on the plot of the new season of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen is on the way. After two years of waiting, the anime’s new story arc is set to focus on the youth of Satoru Gojo, young Yūji Itadori’s mentor. Mentioned at length in the animated film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 released in France at the beginning of 2022, this central part of the story of the exorcists of the Gojo clan is still tinged with mystery for those who have not yet read the manga in paper format.
The adaptation of the second season, which will cover the plot from volume 8 (chapter 62), should thus make it possible to lift the veil on certain questions still pending. While waiting for July 6, 2023, a new trailer tells us a little more about the plot of this new season.
Who is Satoru Gojo?
Mentor of the younger generation of exorcists, S-class master and nightmare of the plagues, Satoru Gojo is one of the central characters of the series. Jujutsu Kaisen. His appearance in the prequel Jujutsu Kaisen 0 had already shed light on certain aspects of his youth, and in particular on his deep enmity with his antagonist and rival Suguru Geto. The two former friends had notably offered us a bloody clash at the time of the Shibuya tragedy on October 31, 2018, as Geto allied with the blightbenders to annihilate the city of Tokyo and its adversaries.
Once his enemy is defeated, Satoru Gojo nevertheless chooses to let him live in memory of their past friendship. A decision that will have serious consequences for the rest of the plot. To better understand the reasons for this leniency, it was time to understand why Gojo and Geto were so close when they were students. This second season of Jujutsu Kaisen should thus concentrate its efforts on the links which united the two protagonists in 2006, before they decided to take different paths.
This arc baptized Gojo’s Past should also take stock of the (tremendous) powers of Gojo, and how the mentor of the school of exorcists in Tokyo has forged his extraordinary skills over the course of his missions and his training. The second half of the season should bring some additional details on the drama of Shibuya. Let’s hope all the same that the next episodes will also be an opportunity to advance the main plot centered on the young Yūji Itadori, who despite himself has become a receptacle for the king of plagues Ryomen Sukuna.
See you in 2024
We will have to wait a little longer to discover the new burst of episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen. The MAPPA studio will always be in charge, which bodes well for the fights to come. According to the website Anime News Networkthe 24 episodes of season 2 should be broadcast on a weekly basis, between July 6 and the beginning of 2024. In France, it will probably be necessary to go through the Crunchyroll broadcasting platform.
