Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the strongest series of Shounen jump these days, and fans tune in weekly to see how his new tournament arc is doing. After all, the Culling Game only played Yuta, and the special-grade fighter has proven his strength in recent weeks. Not too long ago, fans were informed that the manga was going to go on an unexpected hiatus this week despite the release plans initially. And now we know why the change was made.
The official PR account of Jujutsu Kaisen make the announcement after Shounen jump confirmed that the manga will not release a new chapter this week. According to the statement, the team planned to release a new chapter, but creator Gege Akutami felt too bad to meet the deadline.

“Jujutsu Kaisen was to appear in Weekly Shonen Jump #15…but it’s delayed due to Akutami’s poor physical condition. His condition is improving now, so serialization will resume in the next issue of Shonen Jump,” the team wrote.

As you can imagine, fans were quick to send their best wishes to Akutami in light of this update. It’s no secret that manga creators often have insane schedules, and Akutami is no different. Between manga and anime, the artist has a lot of work to oversee. That doesn’t even take into account Jujutsu Kaisen‘s recent movie or video game, so it’s safe to say that Akutami needs a vacation. And when he returns to editing, the Jujutsu Kaisen fanbase will be there to lift it.
