news culture Jujutsu Kaisen: the release of season 2 signed MAPPA is officially clear!
Confirmed for some time now, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 returns to the limelight today with a first release date. Still supervised by MAPPA, this direct sequel should cover one of the best arcs of Gege Akutami’s manga: the Shibuya arc.
A busy program for 2023
The year 2023 promises to be absolutely crazy for fans of Japanese animation. The finale of Attack on Titan, the new season of Dr. Stone, the first season of Mashle, Hell’s Paradise, Vinland Saga… so many anime coming out by next year. But 2023 will also mark the return of one of the most significant works of recent years: Jujutsu Kaisen.
After an excellent first season and a superb film covering chapter “0”, MAPPA is back in service to offer us season 2, which will cover the arc often considered the best in Gege Akutami’s manga, the Shibuya arc. Gojo’s past should be explored, as should the events that mark a real turning point in the manga. Watch out for spoilers until then, better keep the fun going, especially since the wait is soon over.
A first release date and key info
Tonight, TOHO Animation shared a new teaser that mainly focused on Gojo’s youth and key characters from his past. We should learn more about the relationship Itadori’s master had with Suguru, one of the manga’s main antagonists. The good news is that the Shibuya Incident arc will air right after this first round of Gojo-centric episodes. The Shibuya arch will be divided into two courses. Finally, we also learn the first release date of this season 2. Jujutsu Kaisen returns next July. A little more patience then, before finding one of the best shōnen of his generation.
