Jujutsu Kaisen has created a whole new type of Rika with Yuta Okkotsu’s fight in the newest chapter of the series! Gege Akutami’s original manga series may have had a sudden break recently, but now the new chapter is officially out and features the next phase of Yuta Okkotsu’s fight against two opponents in Sendai Colony. Since Yuta had returned to the series, there were all kinds of questions about the nature of his techniques given how his story ended in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel. But the new chapter filled in some of those big gaps. !
When Yuta first returned to the series, it was revealed during his fight with Yuji that he somehow had access to not only his copied techniques from before, but also still had access to Rika as a be supportive. Given that Rika died at the end of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel, fans couldn’t understand why she seemed to be fighting alongside him a year later. But it is explained in the final chapter of the series that this Rika is seemingly different from the one Yuta had before, and further emphasizing is the whole new look she adopts as a result. Check it out:

Great to have confirmation that Yuta’s new Rika is actually his cursed technique. Considering the rest of their interactions (and her transformation), she appears to be a complete fabrication rather than the trapped mind from before. pic.twitter.com/F3TnSeASI8—Nick Valdez (@Valdezology) March 19, 2022
Chapter 178 of Jujutsu Kaisen picks up right after Yuta puts on the same engagement ring he wore to channel all of Rika’s power. It’s revealed that it works the same way this time around as Yuta has fully summoned Rika to his side, but it’s also clarified that this “Rika” and the “Rika Orimoto” who was active during the prequel are different entities. . It is clarified that “Rika” had remained by Yuta’s side after Orimoto’s passing, and by using the ring, he can channel the full extent of that spirit’s power as a cursed technique all his own.
This was something Yuta didn’t have in the original prequel, and goes further to show why he was able to work his way up to the level of a Special Rank just months after losing Rika the first time around. This new version of Rika not only comes with a new look, but seems to be much more dangerous as this Yuta is much more trained in fighting users and cursed spirits than she ever was when she was. used before. Now it only remains to see what this new Rika can really do.
What do you think? What do you think of Rika’s new version of Yuta? Curious to see what other differences there are from the first one? Do you think it’s the same Rika somehow?
