The last days, Crunchyroll (which now includes Kazé) made quite a few announcements on the animation side, of which here is a summary.
Three new DVD/Blu-ray releases are planned by the end of the year: Dr. STONE – Stone Wars, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Missionand My Hero Academia S5. More information about the editions will come later.
To this will be added a title announced last year: Sailor Moon, whose season 1 will arrive in November in its new edition. On the program, a brand new edition for the first time on Blu-ray. A remastered version including the most complete VF ever published so far thanks to the archives that could be found with the help of Toei Animation and Mediawan. A collector’s edition will be released at the same time with a box set that will accommodate the other seasons that will be released in 2023. There will only be 1000 boxes and they will be sold at the same price as the standard edition sold separately.
Three other anime are also planned on physical media in 2023: Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Black Lagoon (new edition) and Platinum End. Here too, more information will arrive in due course.
On the simulcast side, the anime Shangri-la Frontier will be released in 2023, Nagatoro S2 in January 2023, and Muv-Luv Alternative S2 from October.
The platform also revealed the acquisition of the anime Skip and Loafer for release soon. Produced by studio PA Works and directed by Kotomi Deai, this anime is based on Misaki Tamatsu’s romantic comedy manga and follows a young country girl who finds herself in a high school in Tokyo. Finally, on the cinema side, the film Suzume no Tojimari by Makoto Shinkai will be distributed in French cinemas by Crunchyroll and will be released in 2023.
