Jujutsu Kaisen it may be Yuji Itadori’s story first and foremost, but the Shonen protagonist has made a lot of friends along the way. One of Yuji’s most powerful friends is Megumi, a fellow Jujutsu Tech whose cursed energy allows him to bring to life a number of animal protectors imbued with the supernatural world. Now, a fan artist who specializes in recreating anime characters in a much more “classic” style has had a go at Megumi and her menagerie of cursed beasts.

When we last saw Megumi in the anime adaptation for Jujutsu Kaisen, it helped mark Yuji and Jujutsu Tech one of Sukuna’s cursed fingers, which the anime’s protagonist who shared a body with the king of curses seeks to ingest. With the second season of Studio MAPPA’s popular anime adaptation arriving next year, following the success of the previous film in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, expect Megumi to continue to play an important role in future adventures. While Megumi may not feature in the previous film, fans will be able to rewatch the film as soon as Crunchyroll has announced that 0 will launch its streaming service on September 21 this year.

Twitter artist Justine 96636 has shared this wild new take on Megumi and her cursed beasts, with the classic artist having dabbled in a number of anime franchises via classic makeovers, including Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, One Piece, Narutoand too many others to count:

Within the pages of the manga, Megumi was part of the arc known as the “Culling Game”, which was designed as a battle royale style brawl that pits cursed energy users against each other. This storyline directly follows the Shibuya incident and it should be interesting to see how this arc of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen the anime adaptation covers if anything at all. Without getting into spoiler territory, fans should also prepare for the events of the previous film to have big ramifications for the future of the anime adaptation.
