‘Sonic 2’ surges to the top of the North American box office

Thanks to his new opus, the blue hedgehog Sonic darkened this weekend to first place in the North American box office, according to provisional figures from the specialized firm Exhibitor Relations published on Sunday.

In “Sonic 2”, Jim Carrey reprises his role as the evil and mustachioed doctor Robotnik, who wants – quite simply – to destroy humanity, unless Sonic stops him… The feature film mixing animation and shots Real Views grossed $71 million from Friday to Sunday for its release in the United States and Canada.

“This is an exceptional start,” commented David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research, which specializes in analyzing the movie industry.

Sonic, inspired by the video game of the same name, steals the show from the vampiric “Morbius”, the umpteenth superhero film in the Marvel universe, in 2nd place at the North American box office with just over 10 million dollars harvested.

The feature film with Jared Leto in the title role narrates the horrors of Doctor Michael Morbius, a scientist suffering from an incurable disease, who will become a vampire in spite of himself by injecting himself with a serum made from bat DNA. and will not be able to prevent himself from killing to drink the blood of his victims.

In third place on the podium, “The Secret of the Lost City”, an action film mixed with romantic comedy with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, with more than 9 million dollars.

Then comes “Ambulance”, a remake of a Danish film of the same name which for its release raised some 8.7 million dollars.

Another Batman film, “The Batman”, retracing the dark adventures of the masked vigilante with Robert Pattinson, places him in fifth position with 6.5 million dollars.
