The Jujutsu Kaisen franchise wins a new award

At the start of the year, Jujutsu Kaisen keep talking about him. In view of these recent successes, this seems quite normal. Gege Akutami’s manga continues to break records and its anime adaptation follows in the footsteps of its paper version. Anime fans quickly hooked with this work.

The proof is that the franchise is now one of the headliners of the Japanese industry.

A new juggernaut

For many years, the big three, One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, held the top spots. This hegemony has really endured and even if newcomers come to titillate them, it seems impossible to bring them down from their pedestal. However, franchises such as My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen are stirring up trouble in the hierarchy.

The manga as well as the Jujutsu Kaisen anime have already won several awards in a very short time. During the past year, the franchise notably unveiled its feature film entitled Jujutsu Kaisen 0. This film was simply a hit at the box office and earned a place among the best animated films of all time. The anime series meanwhile scooped the Animation of the Year award at the 2022 Tokyo Anime Award Festival.

Franchise projects

If Jujutsu Kaisen makes a thunderous debut, that doesn’t mean he has nothing left to prove. It’s just the beginning and Itadori Yuji has yet to show what he can do. Moreover, new protagonists like Yuta Okkotsu also attract attention without forgetting Satoru Gojo. There are still quite a few chapters that need to be adapted. Although we don’t know much about season 2 yet, it is possible that a return is planned for 2023. Studio Mappa is of course still in charge.

In addition, the latter is also well loaded with the adaptation of the manga Chainsaw Man this year as well as the finale of the Attack on Titan. In the meantime, attention will be on the release of the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 starting March 18 in North America. At that time, it will therefore be broadcast on the Crunchyroll streaming platform. As for the evolution of the manga, Gege Akutami had to take a short break due to health issues. But he should be back bentos.
