Vinland Saga season 2, My Hero Academia season 6 … Crunchyroll is refueling with anime in January

To get the year off to a good start and better withstand the winter, Crunchyroll offers its subscribers even more anime, for the best and… just for the best.

In this month of January 2023, the platform Crunchyroll, the giant of Japanese animation in streaminghas a little more enriched its winter simulcast programming with several promising novelties, but also highly anticipated new seasons of anime that have already met their audience. Between adaptations of cult works, beautiful science fiction stories, comic romance and epic action, there is something to find your happiness (and a good excuse to stay warm on the couch).

Winter is not over, and for once, that’s good news

Among the novelties of January, the anime NieR Automata Ver1.1a should catch the eye of sci-fi fansbut also players from the cult RPG from which it is taken, NieR:Automata. As in the 2017 game, the series takes place in the distant future where humanity is mired in a war against machines created by invaders from another world. His last hope lies in combat androids, including 2B, the heroine at the heart of the plot.

To breathe new life into this extremely refined universe, but full of emotion, A-1 Pictures was commissioned, thus ensuring a small guarantee of additional quality after the studio has moved on to titles as renowned as Fairy Tail, Blue Exorcist Where Sword Art Online.

To stay in science fiction, the platform has also hosted the first episodes of TRIGUN STAMPEDEthe manga adaptation Trigun by Yasuhiro Nightow who is one of the landmarks of Japanese science fiction since its creation in the 1990s. Between the breathtaking photorealistic animation, the futuristic western soundtrack, the desert post-apo atmosphere taken from Mad Max Fury Roadepic battles and charismatic villains,Trigun Stampede stands out as one of the essentials of this beginning of the year.

In a very different genre, Tomo-chan is a girl! looks like a little blessing as valentine’s day approaches. This anime tells the wanderings of Tomo Aizawa, a “tomboy”, in love with his childhood friend, Jun. Despite her confession, he ignores her, considering her more testosterone than her friends. Stupidly funny, this gasoline-fueled pair of protagonists are joined by a myriad of equally brilliantly off-the-charts comrades.

These three new titles are also available in VOSTFR and soon in VF.

January 2023 also marks the return of several veteran and successful series to Crunchyroll, starting with the global phenomenon My Hero Academia with the highly anticipated end of season 6 (and as a bonus, a new end credits). The new episodes pick up after the final battle of the Paranormal Liberation Front War, which caused a lot of damage on both sides.

After a first part of the season which quickly found its audience, Blue Lock is also one of the highly anticipated returns. Course 2 of this first season full of promise (and round balls) has joined the January program. In this recent adaptation of the sports manga by Kaneshiro Muneyuki and Nomura Yusuke, Japan puts together a ruthless selection in order to find and train the ultimate striker. If he registers a priori in the groove edgy and epic soccer anime to the Olive and Tom Where Inazuma Eleven, Blue Lock surprises above all for its cruelty towards its protagonists, who have no room for error, for our greatest pleasure (sadistic, of course).

Vinland Saga: PicturesThe force awakens

Thorfinn, the tortured Viking, will also be back in season 2 of Vinland Saga, whose first season is also available in full in VOSTFR and VF on Crunchyroll. After having started under the leadership of the WIT studio, the new batch was this time supervised by the renowned studio MAPPA, to whom we owe the final season of L‘Attack on Titan and the first seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen and chain saw man (also available on Crunchyroll). It will nevertheless be a very different protagonist from the first season, the latter having been sold as a slave to a rich farmer. Now that his quest for revenge is behind him, the hardest part awaits him: facing his own sins.

At last, BOFURI: I didn’t come here to suffer so I put everything in defense will also be back in season 2, the opportunity to find Kaede Honjo alias Maple, player of the famous VRMMO, for whom defense is always the best option. But for those who are late, the 12 episodes of season 1 are still available in VOSTFR on Crunchyroll. With the exception of the latter, the titles cited above are otherwise all available in VOSTFR and soon in VF on the platform.
