What is the plot of Chainsaw Man?
Official Crunchyroll Synopsis for Chainsaw Man describes it like this:
“Denji is a teenager who lives with a chainsaw devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he lived a low life while paying off his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita.
“One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and is resurrected as “Chainsaw Man” – a man with a devil’s heart.
Who is in the voice cast and what have they worked on before?
Kikunosuke Toya as Denji
Denji is an unlucky young man who works as a devil hunter while trying to pay off his father’s debt. However, when killed, he merges with the Chainsaw Devil Pochita and becomes Chainsaw Man.
Toya once voiced Osei Kiyoshima from Wind boys. He has had roles in several other shows, including bit parts in The heroines run the show: the unpopular girl and the secret task and 24th district of Tokyo.
Tomori Kusunoki as Makima
As the head of Public Security Division 4, a division that aims to protect the public from devils, Makima takes in Denji after his transformation, which leads to Denji developing a strange crush on her.
Tomori Kusunoki is a prolific voice actress. She has been active since 2017. Best known for her role as Futaba Igarashi in the 2021s My Senpai is boringshe also played Natsume in Decadence, Lenn in Sword Art Online spin off Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Onlineand as Misha Necron in The Misfit of Demon King Academy.
She wasn’t limited to television either and appeared in several video games. She voiced Claire in Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights, Kanade Yoisaki in Project Sekai: Colorful Stage feat. Hatsune Miku and Ruka Kayamori in The sky burns red.
Tomori also has a musical career, releasing several albums and singles. His last album, Yarazu no Ame, launched earlier this year.
Shogo Sakata as Aki Hayakawa
One of the members of Makima’s Devil Hunter team, Aki, is very stoic and doesn’t get along well with Denji, causing friction within the team. However, he must learn to co-exist with Denji, especially if he is to avoid Makima’s wrath.
Shogo Sakata is a prolific voice actor and has appeared in many shows, but he is best known for playing Carbo in Dr Stone as well as voice Leviathan in My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Hero Mission and Washibon in Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungleas well as a load of unique roles on major shows.
He was an assistant producer on STAY and performed some of the music for Ranmaru Fairy, including its theme and picture songs.
Fairouz Ai as power
Another member of Makima’s devil-hunting team, Power, is Aki’s reverse; she is childish, impulsive and adores violence in all its forms. In fact, she is often seen inflicting damage just for fun. The only one she really cares about is her pet cat, Meowy. This package is made more fascinating due to Power’s status as Blood Fiend.
