A new figure from Takara Tomy depicts the epic showdown between the hero-in-training of My Hero AcademiaMidoriya Izuku, and the villain Hero Killer: Stain.
Available to pre-order now from Sideshow, the figure stands approximately 12-inches tall and depicts Midoriya, surrounded by intense blue energy, about to unleash a devastating punch on Stain, who is preparing his own counterattack. Both characters are highly detailed and are seen in their original outfits; they are “ready to engage in a fight!”
Kōhei Horikoshi first published his manga series My Hero Academia on Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014 and has since produced 33 volumes of content. Set in a world where the majority of the human population has developed some kind of superpower, known as Quirk, the story follows Midoriya, a young man who was born without a Quirk but still dreams of becoming a great hero. Over 65 million copies of the manga have been sold My Hero Academia around the world and has won several awards, such as the Next Manga Award in 2015 and the Sugoi Japan Award in 2017.

The manga was adapted into an anime by Studio Bones, which premiered in April 2016; the show’s sixth season will premiere as part of the fall 2022 anime lineup. It is directed by Kenji Nagasaki, with Yoshihiko Umakoshi designing the characters and Yōsuke Kuroda writing the story. daiki yamashita(Blue Period) voices Midoriya and Go Inoue(Hetalia – Axis Powers) plays Stain. Like the manga series, the anime adaptation has won multiple awards; for example, it won Best Fight Scene and Best VA Performance (English) at the 2021 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
Other recent events in the franchise My Hero Academia include a new full-color illustration of Stain, who officially appeared in the 33rd volume of the manga. The image was uploaded to social media and shows the Assassin Hero with his signature katana and wearing his Tartarus Escapees arc outfit.
Additionally, Horikoshi recently shared his thoughts on the latest feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: No Way Home, in the VIZ Media author comments section at Weekly Shonen Jump. He had nothing but praise for Peter Parker’s adventure revolving around dimensions, stating, “I’ve seen spider-man! I never thought my favorite movie of all time would change at my age.”
The figure of Izuku Midoriya vs. Takara Tomy’s Stain is priced at $610 and is expected to ship between March and May 2023. The anime from My Hero Academia is available on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation.
