For the 20th anniversary of the Naruto anime and manga, luxury brand Montblanc is releasing a limited edition version of its Summit 3 Wear OS 3 smartwatch featuring the titular character.
The Montblanc x Naruto Summit 3 SmartWatch features Naruto animations on the watch face and comes in packaging inspired by the character.
The watch case also has an engraved kunai, Naruto’s weapon of choice, as well as a leather strap engraved with the Konohagakure symbol.
You could say it’s a smartwatch for a sophisticated anime nerd.
Spec-wise, the Naruto Summit 3 isn’t all that different from the regular one, which is “only” $1,570.
Both have the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus chip, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, and run Wear OS 3 out of the box.
It also has a steel case, a sapphire crystal display and is 5 ATM water resistant. It has all the basic health and movement sensors.
For connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and NFC for contactless payments.
It’s time to celebrate Naruto
Montblanc is just the latest company to release Naruto-themed devices.
HyperX released a collection of limited-edition Naruto: Shippuden gaming peripherals in September. Then came the Realme GT Neo 3 Naruto Edition phone.
The devotion of die-hard collectors cannot be underestimated. And Naruto fans are nothing but loyal.
But in general, you could do without this trend of luxury smartwatch makers slapping a beloved character on a smartwatch more or less for an exorbitant price. AND
Last year, Tag Heuer made a $2,150 Super Mario Wear OS smartwatch that sold like hotcakes. That version ran on the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip just before Wear OS 3 launched on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 line.
